L’étude a pour objet d’explorer le vécu des patients atteints d’hypertension artérielle, d’analyser les difficultés qu’ils évoquent et d’essayer de générer des similitudes. L’étude est qualitative, basée sur la méthode phénoménologique. Les entretiens mettent en évidence que les patients ne s’intéressent qu’aux symptômes de l’hypertension. Ils montrent aussi que la maladie est vécue de façon très affective et engendre des sentiments de frustration, de stress, d’anxiété et d’impuissance chez tous les patients. Une meilleure compréhension du vécu des patients doit permettre aux infirmières d’avoir des actions mieux ciblées.
