Modalidade: Artigo CientíficoResumo: O presente estudo traz como tema: "a importância dos sinais arbitrários para a desmistificação da comunicação em libras". E tem como objetivo analisar a importância que os sinais arbitrários têm na comunicação na Língua Brasileira de Sinais, visando romper com a ideia de superficialidade ou que a comunicação através da língua de sinais são pantomima. Pois, historicamente as pessoas surdas foram postas às margens da sociedade durante séculos, e mesmo depois de, finalmente, os surdos brasileiros terem o reconhecimento da sua língua, ainda enfrentam discriminações. A pesquisa apresenta uma abordagem qualitativa, de cunho teórico com embasamento bibliográfico, a fim de conhecer acerca da educação de surdos, da Língua Brasileira de Sinais dos aspectos fonológicos dos sinais arbitrários. Percebemos que a comunidade surda ainda empreende esforços diários visando o reconhecimento da sua identidade cultural e a desconstrução errônea acerca da Língua de Sinais. Além disso, este estudo conclui que a arbitrariedade é um fator importante para uma língua. E no caso da Libras é a quebra do preconceito de que os sinais são gestos da língua oral auditiva.
O livro contém os trabalhos de pesquisas com o Tema: EDUCAÇÃO, TECNOLOGIA E INCLUSÃO: Desafios antigos e contemporâneos. Vol. 2. Resulta de uma proposta de reunir textos que procuraram pensar nesses pilares, que nos relatam o papel de cada uma delas dentro do processo.
