Promoting geoheritage using the Internet materializes mainly through the use of maps, posters, informational murals, or websites. This information is usually detailed and visually appealing. However, in most cases, there is little interactivity and a limited or complete lack of contextualization within the geographical space. The main objective of this work was to integrate information collected with unmanned aerial vehicles, georeferenced information processed in geographical information systems, photogrammetry techniques, and multimedia technologies to promote a better computer visualization of geoheritage. A working website was built based on panoramic photography, three-dimensional representation of the terrain, and multimedia information, in order to provide a pleasant way of promoting and interacting with field geology by using the Internet. The navigation through the information is based on 360°spherical panoramic images that are fully oriented and georeferenced. Their movement can be perfectly synchronized with the viewing of the landscape by using motion sensors found on portable devices (tablets or smartphones) such as GPS, accelerometers, gyroscopes, or compasses. These images can include the access to multimedia elements such as websites, videos, images, sounds, interpretation models, text, or interactive 3D terrain models, working as an excellent support base for the provision of an augmented reality experience. If used in the field, this technical implementation can act as an interactive guide for the interpretation of the landscape. This type of content can be accessed online from locations with a network signal or can be obtained in advance for offline use.
Fire is one of the natural agents with the greatest impact on the terrestrial ecosystem and plays an important ecological role in a large part of the terrestrial surface. Remote sensing is an important technique applied in mapping and monitoring changes in forest landscapes affected by fires. This study presents a spectral separability analysis for the detection of burned areas using Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS images in the context of fires that occurred in different biomes of Brazil (dry ecosystem) and Portugal (temperate forest). The research is based on a fusion of spectral indices and automatic classification algorithms scientifically proven to be effective with as little human interaction as possible. The separability index (M) and the Reed–Xiaoli automatic anomaly detection classifier (RXD) allowed the evaluation of the spectral separability and the thematic accuracy of the burned areas for the different spectral indices tested (Burn Area Index (BAI), Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR), Mid-Infrared Burn Index (MIRBI), Normalized Burn Ratio 2 (NBR2), Normalized Burned Index (NBI), and Normalized Burn Ratio Thermal (NBRT)). The analysis parameters were based on spatial dispersion with validation data, commission error (CE), omission error (OE), and the Sørensen–Dice coefficient (DC). The results indicated that the indices based exclusively on the SWIR1 and SWIR2 bands showed a high degree of separability and were more suitable for detecting burned areas, although it was observed that the characteristics of the soil affected the performance of the indices. The classification method based on bitemporal anomalous changes using the RXD anomaly proved to be effective in increasing the burned area in terms of temporal alteration and performing unsupervised detection without relying on the ground truth. On the other hand, the main limitations of RXD were observed in non-abrupt changes, which is very common in fires with low spectral signal, especially in the context of using Landsat-8 images with a 16-day revisit period. The results obtained in this work were able to provide critical information for fire mapping algorithms and for an accurate post-fire spatial estimation in dry ecosystems and temperate forests. The study presents a new comparative approach to classify burned areas in dry ecosystems and temperate forests with the least possible human interference, thus helping investigations when there is little available data on fires in addition to favoring a reduction in fieldwork and gross errors in the classification of burned areas.
Geochemistry of variability assessment of concentrations of molybdenum distributed in a pedological profile in the river basin Tatuoca, Ipojuca-Pernambuco A B S T R A C T The Tatuoca river basin belongs to the group of small coastal rivers of the State of Pernambuco and its drainage area is completely within the Suape Port Industrial Complex Suape-CIPS. The study of concentrations of trace elements in soils is an important tool in environmental management of the watershed, as it can contribute to differentiate between baseline geogenic concentrations from anthropogenic contributions in their catchment area. Within this context, the study aimed to characterize the trace elements geochemical variation in soils, in order to visualize possible anthropogenic contributions as well as support geochemical studies of active stream sediments in the Tatuoca river basin. soil profile was collected by percussion drilling, and named CTP4, with 17 meters deep. Both was cut every 50 cm for a total of 34 samples, which was initially prepared in Sample Preparation Laboratory, Department of Geology, Feder...
Boa Viagem Aquifer, a Discussion of its Uses Versus its Potential, Recife - PE ABSTRACT The Formation of Aquifer Boa Viagem is located at Recife city, in its southern portion, covering about 46% of the total area of the city being totally outcropping, characterized as a free aquifer. It is covered by five RPA (Regions Political - Administrative), about 1,350,000 inhabitants, with a total area of 102.09 km2, and a demand of 8,000 water wells exploited, with an average flow of 20 m3 / h each well. On the one hand, the installations of wells are growing, consequently, the average flow. On the other hand, the infiltration of water recharging the aquifer grows as well, which in this case is only through their permeable outcrop areas. This search aims to relate the amount of exploitation with the densities of water infiltration in order to obtain results that show the driving forces disproportionality between the periods of recharge in discrepancy with the number of wells drilled. In this light, it is necessary that the media uses tolerate the natural dynamics of the resource, as a natural resource, and review their own pace, adding thus a proportional and integrated use.
