Ceux de la vallée du Xanthos se distinguent, entre autres, pour avoir laissé des monuments épigraphiques en grec. L'analyse de ces textes poétiques conduit à souligner le caractère éminemment hellénique de la représentation dynastique qu'ils véhiculent, à examiner la portée historique de ces proclamations et à préciser la nature des tensions existantes au sein de la dynastie : à la gestion familiale du pouvoir, sauvegardée par l'Harpagide, s'oppose l'affirmation exclusive de la transmission patrilinéaire de la part du dernier dynaste de Xanthos, le jeune Arbinas, vainqueur de son oncle Kherëi.
