The 21st century classroom is, with the necessary infrastructure, an environment much more developed than the traditional classroom. Since the purpose of a language is communication between people, both written and oral, the Internet has become an extraordinary resource for teaching and learning a foreign language. The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) make it possible to accelerate the teaching and learning process, as they help students learn from a distance. In other words, they are an effective, fast and cheap way to acquire a new language, which is why it is gaining more or more attention. Nevertheless, traditional classroom still exists and functions with very effective results. The research conducted for the purpose of this paper shows how students perceive and evaluate both traditional and ICT supported learning of a foreign language in higher education environment, with the aim of discovering which of the two approaches students find more suitable for learning a foreign language.
Abstract:As a global lingua franca, English language is the main and necessary standard in everyday communication today. The lack of knowledge of English can be a huge obstacle to scientific papers reading, international cooperation, scientific papers presentation and career progress. For all the above mentioned reasons, English is compulsory, two-semester course during all four years of undergraduate academic studies in all faculties at Singidunum University, both for regular students and DLS (distance learning system) students. Moodle platform is the main tool for foreign language learning for DLS students. This paper presents the analysis of the usage of Moodle in English language teaching at Singidunum University, as well as all advantages and disadvantages that the platform has. All functions of platform are taken into consideration, both for vocabulary teaching and for all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking). The aim of the paper is to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of Moodle platform in English language teaching in order to use online learning as an additional tool in regular lectures.

The Decision to Confiscate German-Owned Property (1944), the Law on Agrarian Reform and Colonization (August 1945) and the Decree on the Implementation of Veterans’ Settlement (1945) provided a legal framework for the colonization of Vojvodina. People from the outback regions applied for colonization in large numbers since it was believed that migration guaranteed deliverance from decades of dearth and poverty. The journey of the colonists was fraught with numerous difficulties, primarily due to poor organization and frequent changes of plans. The distribution of houses, cattle, and inventory was done by local commissions. The bias of these commissions was obvious. Thus, the division of houses and inventory was accompanied by great social injustices. Some families were housed in buildings with electrical installations, while others had to settle into houses without floors. Such actions caused indignation and revolt among the colonists. Dissatisfied with their new life, as many as 4,000 families decided to return. Those who remained needed time to adapt to the new way of life. With time, big families disintegrated, the position of women improved, new work habits were developed, and neighborly relations became better.
