La incorporación de protocolos con proestro prolongado en condiciones extremas ha permitido mejorar la concepción. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar los resultados del protocolo con proestro prolongado denominado J-Synch con y sin eCG, sobre la dinámica folicular y porcentaje de preñez en vacas doble propósito en la Amazonía Ecuatoriana. El trabajo se efectuó en la provincia de Pastaza - Ecuador, desde octubre del 2018 a octubre del 2019. Se utilizaron 448 vacas multíparas en producción con cría al pie de las razas Brown Swiss y sus cruzas (Bos indicus). Se trabajó con cuatro tratamientos, las vacas fueron inseminadas artificialmente a tiempo fijo en el día nueve T1: J-Synch, eCG, Celo IATF 60 horas (n= 120); T2: J-Synch y eCG y Sin Celo+ GnRH IATF 72 horas (n=118); T3: J-Synch y Celo IATF 60 horas (n=103); T4: J-Synch más Sin Celo más GnRH más IATF 72 Horas (n=107). La tasa de preñez fue del 55% (T1), el 49% (T2), el 51% (T3) y el 50% (T4) sin mostrar diferencias significativas. El desarrollo folicular y el diámetro del cuerpo lúteo mostraron diferencias significativas (p0,05). Se concluye que los tratamientos J-Synch más eCG a las 60 horas y las 72 horas tuvieron diferente comportamiento en el desarrollo folicular y en el tamaño del cuerpo lúteo. El porcentaje de preñez no difirió entre los tratamientos, aunque existió un 44,5% más probabilidad de quedar preñada una vaca con el T1 en comparación con el T2. Además, que aumentaría un 22,5% la preñez aplicando el T1 en comparación con el T3, y se lograría un 18% mayor de preñez con el T3 si se compara con el T2.
El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la concentración de macrominerales en sangre de vacas lecheras de cuatro genotipos bajo condiciones de pastoreo libre en la provincia de Napo, Ecuador. Se evaluaron 36 vacas de primer parto, cruzas de Bos indicus con Gir, Brown Swiss, Jersey y Sahiwal. Se tomaron muestran de sangre los días 60 y 21 antes del parto, en el parto y a los 30, 60 y 90 días del parto y se determinaron los valores en plasma de calcio (Ca2+), fósforo (P), magnesio (Mg), potasio (K+), sodio (Na+) y cloro (Cl). Ninguna de los valores plasmáticos presentó diferencias significativas entre grupos raciales y los valores obtenidos se encontraron entre los valores referenciales para vacas lecheras.
El objetivo fue estudiar si los protocolos de inseminación artificial a tiempo fijo (IATF) y las razas están relacionados con la preñez en vacas en la Amazonia Ecuatoriana. Se evaluaron 497 registros de servicios individuales desde Octubre de 2013 a Octubre de 2014 correspondientes a vacas de diferentes razas multíparas: Brahman (B), Brown Swiss (BS), Holstein Friesian (HF) y Charolaise (Ch). Se realizó una IATF con 497 vacas aplicando dos protocolos, diferenciándose solo por el tipo de sales de estradiol utilizadas. De las 497 vacas inseminadas, 272 vacas quedaron preñadas el 55% y 224 vacas resultaron vacías el 45 % siendo p≤0,0001. Los resultados encontrados entre los dos protocolos utilizados y la preñez no hubo diferencias significativas p≥0,324. De las 210 vacas utilizadas en el protocolo Benzoato de Estradiol se preñaron el 57% de las vacas y el 43% fueron vacías, con el protocolo Cipionato de Estradiol de las 286 vacas inseminadas quedaron preñadas el 53% y el 47% de las vacas vacías. Las vacas HF fueron las que mayor porcentaje de vacías mostró independientemente del protocolo utilizado (28% de preñadas y 72% de vacías), con respecto al resto de las razas, (B 70% preñadas, BS 69% preñadas y las Ch 61% preñadas) en donde p≤0,001. Se concluye que no existen diferencias entre los protocolos utilizados (EC ó EB), sin embargo hay un efecto de raza en la tasa de preñez en AITF en la Amazonía Ecuatoriana.
