The notion of the human as a person influences immediate action, which is especially evident in care during illness and suffering. Although medicine is as old as humanity, in the last two centuries it has developed within a bio–medical paradigm marked by positivism.Since Florence Nightingale, nursing has been trying to develop within its own paradigm characterized by four concepts of which the person is central. It is only in the past half century that unique nursing theories have been developed in which the features of personalism can be discerned. The attempts by some theorists to define the concept of person have brought it closer to the classical definition of a person as found in philosophical anthropology. The fact that there are theoretical models that direct practice from bio–medical to holistic and personalistic view speaks in favor of the maturing idea about the importance of observing man as a person with all the immediate positive effects of such a view.
Assmann’s crucial concept in his theory of cultural memory is »the Mosaic Distinction« (die Mosaische Unterscheidung). It is the starting point of a new revolutionary distinction – between truth and falsehood in religion, and the entire spectrum of consequences as a result thereof – a break with all earlier traditions, and the process of formation of a new type of religion that stands apart from other religions and spheres of culture such as politics, law and economics. This revolutionary monotheism has replaced the ancient polytheistic world in which Assmann found the dynamic and creative system that has contributed in many elements to the rise of a new monotheistic synthesis rooted in Mosaic distinction. The purpose of this article is to offer a partial insight into this rather forgotten, »buried« world that Assmann has vivified with his erudition, presenting some important achievements of Ancient Egypt firmly incorporated into our civilisation.
Ovakva istraživanja mogu nesumnjivo pripomoći u razumijevanju posebnosti čovjekove moralnosti, no puno toga ostaje neodgovoreno i otvoreno za daljnja istraživanja.
Prilog iznosi na vidjelo prisutnost enciklike Fides et ratio Ivana Pavla II. u nas, i to povodom njezine dvadesete obljetnice izlaska.
