Este artículo es parte de una investigación realizada con 93 estudiantes de la carrera de Pedagogía del Sistema de Enseñanza Abierta (SEA) de la Universidad Veracruzana (UV), del estado de Veracruz, México. La investigación explora cuatro áreas: salud física y emocional, académica y administrativa; en este artículo solo se presentan los resultados del área emocional. El objetivo fue identificar cómo vivieron los estudiantes universitarios el confinamiento derivado del COVID- 19 en el aspecto emocional. La investigación se desarrolló con un enfoque cuantitativo, de corte transversal, de tipo exploratoria y descriptiva, con una muestra no probabilística, elegida por conveniencia, siguiendo determinados criterios de inclusión. La información se obtuvo a través de un instrumento (cuestionario) con preguntas abiertas y cerradas aplicado a través de Google Forms y distribuido por medios electrónicos, principalmente celular, ya que más del 51.64% de los estudiantes son de otras localidades fuera de Xalapa e incluso de otros estados. Los resultados muestran que en primer lugar aparece la ansiedad en los estudiantes, seguido de insomnio, irritabilidad, nerviosismo, depresión, miedo, y otros síntomas en menor porcentaje, como apatía, ira, sensación de ahogo, pánico y sudoración. Cabe mencionar que la mayoría de los estudiantes manifestaron presentar varias de estas emociones.
