La presente investigación tiene como objetivo determinar los factores que motivan laelección de la universidad en los estudiantes universitarios. Y se presentan los resultados de unestudio que se realizó en la Universidad de Montemorelos, donde se aplicó una encuesta a 102 estu- diantes del nivel de pregrado presencial en relación con aspectos que ellos tomaron en cuenta paraelegirunauniversidad,setomaronencuentaaspectoseconómicos,decalidadinstitucional y académica, de infraestructura yadministrativos. Se realizó un instrumento de medición con 36 preguntas. En el cual, mediante una prueba piloto se obtuvieron datos para proceder a la validación de confiabilidad con análisis de Alfa de Cronbach. Exitosamente, de esta manera el instrumento creado obtuvo un .838 de fiabilidad. Después de la aplicación del instrumento a una muestra por conveniencia o selección intencio- nada, se obtuvieron datos resultados de los motivos más importantes por los cuales eligieron la Universidad de Montemorelos los cuales son: 1. Religión: principios y creencias adventistas, valores morales y/o cristianos, 2. Ambiente del campus UM: social, multicultural, actividades extracurriculares, estilo de vida saludable, etc. 3. Prestigio de la marca UM: calidad académica o de los servicios, programas especializados, egresados destacados, reconocimiento social o laboral. Posteriormente mediante un análisis factorial se encontraron 7 Estilos de Vida del Consumidor predominantes los cuales denominamos como: 1. Modernos-Saludables 42 % 2. Sofisticado- Progresista 23 % 3. Formalista Conservador 18 % 4. Fresones Prácticos 11 % 5. Regateador telenovelesco 4 % 6. Austeros 2 % 7. Conservadores 1 %. De esta manera podemos conocer la población estudiantil de la UM y permitir proponer planes, presupuestos, programas e instalaciones necesarias para los próximos años.
