This review aims to systematically analyze ML models from four aspects: type of ML technique, estimation accuracy, model comparison, and estimation context. A systematic literature review of empirical studies was conducted on the ML models published in the last decades. Fifty-one primary studies relevant to the objective of this research were revealed. After investigating these studies, five ML techniques have been employed in brain tumor classification and prediction. Ultimately, the estimation accuracy of these ML models could be regarded and accepted and outperformed non-ML models. ML models have been revealed to be useful in brain tumor classification and prediction. Genetic algorithm among the ML models achieved an accuracy of 100%. Nevertheless, ML models are still restricted in the industry, so initiative and encouragement are needed to make ML models easier. Further work is required on these ML models to verify the accuracy and consider other performance metrics other than the accuracy.
Biometrics consists of scientific methods of using a person’s unique physiological or behavioral traits for electronic identification and verification. The traits for biometric identification are fingerprint, voice, face, and palm print recognition. However, this study considers fingerprint recognition for in-person identification since they are distinctive, reliable, and relatively easy to acquire. Despite the many works done, the problem of accuracy still persists which perhaps can be attributed to the varying characteristic of the acquisition devices. This study seeks to improve the issue recognition accuracy with the proposal of the fusion of a two transform and minutiae models. In this study, a transform-minutiae fusion-based model for fingerprint recognition is proposed. The first transform technique, thus wave atom transform, was used for data smoothing while the second transform, thus wavelet, was used for feature extraction. These features were added to the minutiae features for person recognition. Evaluating the proposed design on the FVC 2002 dataset showed a relatively better performance compared to existing methods with an accuracy measure of 100% as to 96.67% and 98.55% of the existing methods.
Prediction of the stock price is a crucial task as predicting it may lead to profits. Stock price prediction is a challenge owing to non-stationary and chaotic data. Thus, the projection becomes challenging among the investors and shareholders to invest the money to make profits. This paper is a review of stock price prediction, focusing on metrics, models, and datasets. It presents a detailed review of 30 research papers suggesting the methodologies, such as Support Vector Machine Random Forest, Linear Regression, Recursive Neural Network, and Long Short-Term Movement based on the stock price prediction. Aside from predictions, the limitations, and future works are discussed in the papers reviewed. The commonly used technique for achieving effective stock price prediction is the RF, LSTM, and SVM techniques. Despite the research efforts, the current stock price prediction technique has many limits. From this survey, it is observed that the stock market prediction is a complicated task, and other factors should be considered to accurately and efficiently predict the future.
This study proposes a deep learning approach for stock price prediction by bridging the long short-term memory with gated recurrent unit. In its evaluation, the mean absolute error and mean square error were used. The model proposed is an extension of the study of Hossain et al. established in 2018 with an MSE of 0.00098 as its lowest error. The current proposed model is a mix of the bidirectional LSTM and bidirectional GRU resulting in 0.00000008 MSE as the lowest error recorded. The LSTM model recorded 0.00000025 MSE, the GRU model recorded 0.00000077 MSE, and the LSTM + GRU model recorded 0.00000023 MSE. Other combinations of the existing models such as the bi-directional LSTM model recorded 0.00000019 MSE, bi-directional GRU recorded 0.00000011 MSE, bidirectional LSTM + GRU recorded 0.00000027 MSE, LSTM and bi-directional GRU recorded 0.00000020 MSE.
This study aims to analyze the Chan-Vese model's performance using a variety of tumor images. The processes involve the tumors' segmentation, detecting the tumors, identifying the segmented tumor region, and extracting the features before classification occurs. In the findings, the Chan-Vese model performed well with brain and breast tumor segmentation. The model on the skin performed poorly. The brain recorded DSC 0.6949903, Jaccard 0.532558; the time elapsed 7.389940 with an iteration of 100. The breast recorded a DSC of 0.554107, Jaccard 0.383228; the time elapsed 9.577161 with an iteration of 100. According to this study, a higher DSC does not signify a well-segmented image, as the breast had a lower DSC than the skin. The skin recorded a DSC of 0.620420, Jaccard 0.449717; the time elapsed 17.566681 with an iteration of 200.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
