The present study analyzed the recycling of residues (UCMOs and containers) resulting from the oil changes conducted by a transport firm in northern Brazil. Data were collected from administrative documents and by the application of interviews and questionnaires. The results of the study show that the firm handles its UCMOs adequately, by sending them for rerefining. However, the packaging, which contains residues of oil, is discarded in the domestic garbage, where it is likely to pollute the environment with potentially dangerous substances.
