The DC microgrid system is composed by converters that operate like feeders and loads. Among these loads, we highlight the constant power loads (CPLs) that may cause instability in the microgrid, observed in the form of undesired oscillations due to its negative impedance behavior. Therefore, this work proposes to use performance indices and stability margins to evaluate state and output feedback control strategies for stabilization of DC microgrids. In particular, it is proposed to evaluate the stability margin of the proposed methodologies by means of the impedance relations in the microgrid based on the Middlebrook criterion. Our simulations and tests showed the relation between the performance and stability degradation and the microgrid impedances variation.
The integration of the switching devices at DC distribution system has become increasingly common. Investigation of the techniques that ensure regulation and stability are fundamental to correct system operation. In this sense, this paper present a novel active auxiliary loop project based on power system stabilizer (PSS) apply on source-side to oscillation mitigation due to constant power load (CPL) connection. The system performance is analysed through performance index, however the relative stability is observed by Nyquist curve for each topology proposed. Thus, observed performance improvement and stability to system with auxiliary loop proposed in the action of the phase delay.
DC microgrids have gained a lot of prominence due to their high efficiency and compatibility with renewable sources, however, these systems in the presence of constant power loads (CPL) can become unstable due to the negative impedance characteristic of CPLs. Linear Matrix Inequations (LMI) is a powerful tool used to synthesize control projects, in which the results are reliable and accurate. Thus, it was proposed to compare the methods of controlling pole allocation, Lyapunov stability, and minimizing the H 2 standard via LMI, applied to the buck converter microgrid system with CPL. The pole allocation region was defined by the intersection of a strip region and a cone region, forming a convex region. The Lyapunov stability is presented by the inequality of the Lyapunov function in sets with a convex region formed by the same region as the pole allocation method. And when minimizing the H 2 norm, a convex restriction region equivalent to that used in other methods was used. When selecting convex regions to solve the problems in LMI the solutions are obtained in a faster and more satisfactory way, different from the classic solution in which only the desired poles are selected.
