RESUMO:A medicina veterinária preventiva tem se desenvolvido juntamente com o crescimento do mercado pet, a qual tem o intuito de levar informações de fácil acesso aos tutores, bem como prevenir o desenvolvimento de doenças, melhorar a qualidade de vida do animal e reduzir o abandono. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar as ações de medicina veterinária preventiva que foram realizadas no ano de 2021 pelos alunos de medicina veterinária da Universidade Estadual de Goiás. A metodologia foi baseada na utilização das mídias sociais e levantamento dos assuntos considerados pelos acadêmicos como mais relevantes. Foram desenvolvidas publicações, vídeos e palestras, com o intuito de levar informação sobre temas da saúde dos gatos de maior relevância para a sociedade. Com isso, semanalmente um tema foi abordado via redes sociais, dentre eles: controle populacional, importância da castração, controle e prevenção de doenças, zoonoses e manejo ambiental. Os resultados foram positivos com pessoas da comunidade geral tendo acesso às postagens e feedbacks por compartilhamentos, curtidas e comentários. Houveram sessões de perguntas por parte da população que foram devidamente esclarecidas. Concluiu-se que a divulgação para a sociedade sobre a medicina veterinária preventiva em gatos é uma importante ação social, pois gera interesse das pessoas que criam esses animais e não tem o devido acesso ao conhecimento sobre a espécie.
RESUMO:Com o constante aprimoramento da medicina veterinária, as áreas de especialidades medicas e novas linhas de trabalho vem ganhando mais destaque a cada dia. A medicina veterinária preventiva é uma, dentro outras inovadoras linhas de trabalho, que corre em sentido distinto à medicina curativa mais tradicional, que se limita somente a tratar um animal doente. A medicina veterinária preventiva é bem fiel a sua nomeação, utiliza de estratégias de manejo, sanidade e qualquer outra abordagem que contribua para que o animal não desenvolva alguma patologia e caso ocorra, seja proposto uma alternativa para que se evite uma possível recidiva ou contaminação dos tutores ou outros animais que dividem o mesmo ambiente. Foi a partir desse viés que surgiu o projeto extensionista de Ações de Medicina Veterinária Preventiva em Cães e Gatos, realizado, pelos alunos de medicina veterinária da Universidade Estadual de Goiás. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo destacar a importância e resultados das ações realizadas no supracitado projeto e também apresentar as alternativas metodológicas utilizadas, tento em vista que as ações foram realizadas durante o período de pandemia. E divido a esse novo cenário global, foram elegidas as redes sociais como veículo de disseminação das informações para a sociedade.
Introdução: A pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) é um parâmetro de grande relevância dentro da clínica médica de pequenos animais, e quando elevada torna-se fator predisponente para lesões em órgãos-alvos que estão ligados ao controle do fluxo sanguíneo e de vasta rede de capilares como coração, rins, olhos, encéfalo e vasos sanguíneos. Os valores da PAS podem variar entre animais sob influência de diferentes fatores como raça, sexo, idade e o condicionamento físico oscilando entre animais obesos e magros. Objetivo: Tendo em vista a grande importância da aferição da PAS em cães foi realizado um estudo no Centro de Estudos em Pesquisa Animal e Vegetal (CEPAV), pertencente à Universidade Estadual de Goiás, – UEG Campus Oeste – Sede São Luís de Montes Belos, com o objetivo de avaliar a alteração da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) em cães adultos saudáveis, sem histórico de doenças no intervalo de um ano, quando submetidos a um exercício leve durante um período de quinze minutos. Material e métodos: Foram avaliados 14 cães, sendo cada animal o seu próprio controle. Em cada paciente mensurou-se a PAS pelo método não invasivo de Doppler vascular, com auxílio de esfinomanômetro e manguitos com tamanhos de aproximadamente 40% da circunferência do membro de cada animal. Todas as aferições foram realizadas no membro anterior direito, com os animais em decúbito lateral esquerdo. Resultados: Como resultado, constatou-se que não houve diferença estatística entre os grupos. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que a PAS arterial sistólica de cães aferida por método Doppler, não se altera após a realização de atividade física leve pelos animais. Recomenda-se a necessidade de um estudo com um número maior de animais e diferentes tempos de atividade física para se garantir maior confiabilidade dos dados.
