Resumo: O Instituto Federal Catarinense Campus Santa Rosa do Sul, tem o objetivo de prestar auxílio às famílias assentadas na Vila Nova na área rural do município de Santa Rosa do Sul, onde fica a Sede da Instituição. Devido as dificuldades encontradas, houve uma desagregação social e descrédito geral da comunidade em relação às inovações, assim estavam desmotivados e incrédulos. Mediante as visitas, realizadas em 2017, nas casas dos assentados residentes, foi dialogado com os(as) mesmos(as) sobre a realidade de cada família e sugeriu-se que participassem na reunião no Campus SRS. A Audiência Pública, realizada no Campus SRS em 2018, foi para tratar o saneamento da Vila Nova de Santa Rosa do Sul. A água potável foi o fato mais relevante. Dessa forma mobilizou-se para a fazer o abaixo-assinado. O abaixo-assinado surtiu um efeito promissor. A distribuição de água potável nas residências da comunidade da Vila Nova. A água potável foi o marco importante e conseguida com a união como comunidade. Perceberam que, a união em grupo os fez mais seguros e motivados. Com a motivação coletiva foi possível a construção do curso de qualificação profissional junto com o grupo da comunidade da Vila Nova. A comunidade optou a formação em agricultura familiar com o foco em Olericultura. O tema escolhido para conhecer as atividades realizadas nas hortas domésticas e a apropriação de saberes para a futura horta comunitária na Vila Nova. O aprendizado pelo curso de Qualificação Profissional, a comunidade se interessou, para o ano de 2019, a implantação da horta comunitária na Vila Nova foi possível com o edital nº 130/2018, de apoio aos Arranjos Produtivos e Sociais Locais e culturais nos Campi do IFC, e com a parceria da Prefeitura de Santa Rosa do Sul. No edital nº 55/2019 o objetivo de o projeto geral consolidar a horta comunitária, como um embrião de um APL, tendo por foco a qualificação no âmbito da gestão solidária e nos circuitos curtos de comercialização. Objetivo foi gerar renda, porém, o excedente das hortaliças e temperos, a serem comercializadas não foi tão expressiva como o esperado. Devido ao isolamento social mundial da pandemia da Covid 19, no ano de 2020, reduziu de forma drástica a procura das hortaliças e os temperos. A Horta Comunitária da Vila Nova se consolidou, ampliou o capital social, fortaleceu os laços sociais entre as famílias, melhorou a qualidade de vida. Em consequência, a horta contribuiu para a valorização do território e para a governança territorial. As práticas feitas na Horta Comunitária e ainda em grupo foram e são uma forma de lazer e descontração. A fonte renda, não monetária, mas com saldo positivo. O alimento saudável que eles(as) participam, desde o preparo dos canteiros até a colheita, com muito empenho e dedicação.
