MicroRNAs são pequenos fragmentos de RNA, incapazes de codificar proteínas e que participam da regulação pós-transcricional da expressão gênica ao se ligarem em sequências do RNA-mensageiro alvo, induzindo a degradação ou prevenindo a tradução destas sequências. A comprovação de estudos recentes de que alguns microRNAs possam estar envolvidos com a expressão de transportador associado a processamento de antígenos (TAP)-1, pode ser mais um passo no entendimento de diversos mecanismos patológicos como o câncer, por exemplo, auxiliando, assim, em imunoterapias mais eficientes. Dependendo da célula-alvo, os microRNAs são capazes de influenciar diversas etapas da formação tumoral, desde a metástase, progressão da doença, até a frequência de infiltração de células imunes no ambiente tumoral. Essas moléculas também parecem estar envolvidas nos mecanismos de escape imunológico. O objetivo deste artigo foi buscar na literatura a relação entre os microRNAs e a expressão da proteína TAP, descrever a função dessas moléculas, especialmente em patologias como o câncer, sua influência nos mecanismos de evasão imunológica e suas possíveis contribuições para o desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias terapêuticas e diagnósticas.
