Objective: The objective was to investigate the ethical observances used by nurses assisting the patient without possibilities of cure. Methods: Exploratory research, qualitative in nature, performed with 28 nurses of a public hospital, located in the city of João Pessoa/PB. The data were collected through a questionnaire, from August to October 2012 and subjected to content analysis technique. Results: The categories identified were: Palliative Care: principles of Bioethics to the patient without possibilities of cure and privacy and professional secrecy under the palliative care. Such categories indicated that the professionals are valuing the principles of Bioethics, as well as the privacy and the professional secrecy, using them as a strategy to assist the care to the patient without possibilities of cure. Conclusion: This study is expected to subsidize new investigations, because they are still incipient the research addressing bioethics in patient assistance in palliative care. Bioética, así como la privacidad y el secreto profesional, usándolos como una estrategia para auxiliar a la atención de los pacientes sin posibilidad de cura. Conclusión: Se espera que este estudio pueda subsidiar nuevas investigaciones, pues aún son incipientes las encuestas que abordan la Bioética en la asistencia al paciente bajo Cuidados Paliativos.
Resumo Objetivou-se investigar como os profissionais de enfermagem compreendem o assédio moral, bem como identificar essas situações vivenciadas pelos profissionais dessa área, suas causas e consequên-cias para a saúde desses trabalhadores. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, de natureza qualitativa, da qual participaram 15 profissionais de enfermagem atuantes em unidades de saúde da família, da cidade de João Pessoa, na Paraíba. A coleta de dados foi realizada no período de abril a maio de 2013 e ocorreu mediante uma entrevista gravada. Os dados foram analisados por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Da análise do material, emergiram três categorias: Assédio moral, conceito e características na visão dos profissionais de enfermagem; Comportamentos de assédio moral experimentados por profissionais de enfermagem; e Consequências do assédio moral. Conclui-se que o assédio moral é disseminado entre enfermeiros e técnicos de enfermagem, apesar de alguns profissionais discernirem o conceito dessa prática, sendo notória a prevalência do tipo descendente. Palavras-chave enfermagem; atenção básica; trabalho.Abstract This study aimed to investigate the view nursing professionals have of moral harassment and how to identify these situations as experienced by the professionals in this area, as well as their causes and consequences for these workers' health. This is a qualitative exploratory research study in which 15 nursing professionals working at family health facilities in the city of João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil took part. Data collection took place between April and May 2013 by means of a recorded interview. The data were analyzed using the content analysis technique. The analysis of the material revealed three categories: Moral harassment: Concept and characteristics from the nursing professionals' viewpoint; Moral harassment behaviors experienced by nursing professionals, and Consequences of the moral harassment. We conclude that moral harassment is widespread among nurses and nursing technicians, although some professionals understand the concept of this practice, and the prevalence of the descending type is notorious.
Objectives: Investigate moral harassment experienced by nurses in their workplace. Methods: Cross-sectional study performed with 259 nurses working in primary healthcare units and public hospitals. The tool employed in the research was composed of a questionnaire available in the union council's website, and the nurses were emailed the invitation to participate. Results: Results showed that the moral harassment phenomenon is more frequently regarded to the manipulation perpetrated by the aggressor toward opposed interests of the victim, followed by the acknowledgement that the harasser seeks to hinder the professional development of the harassed worker. Conclusion: The study revealed that the moral harassment experienced by the nurse in the workplace directly impacts his/her labor performance, as well as health and emotional statuses. ResumoObjetivos: Investigar situações de assédio moral vivenciadas por enfermeiros em seu ambiente de trabalho. Métodos: Pesquisa transversal realizada com 259 enfermeiros que trabalham em unidades básicas de saúde e hospitais da rede pública. O instrumento de pesquisa foi um questionário disponibilidade em um site do conselho de classe e os enfermeiros receberam por email o convite para participar. Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que a situação de assédio moral mais frequente diz respeito ao agressor manipular pessoas para assumir posicionamentos contrários aos interesses da vítima, seguida da constatação de que o assediador impede o crescimento profissional do assediado. Conclusão: O estudo revelou que situações de assédio moral vivenciadas pelo enfermeiro no ambiente de trabalho influenciam diretamente em o desempenho laboral, saúde e estado emocional.
Objective: to describe the bibliometric indicators of scientific production available in online journals that address Covid-19. Method: bibliometric study using Bradford's Law, network maps and textual statistics conducted with publications available in databases, from January to March 2020. Results: the sample consisted of 110 scientific articles. The main authors of the studies were linked to 83 institutions in 30 countries, giving priority to medical training. China was the country that published the most, providing a large number of research data. Patients infected with Covid-19 and the population in general made up the study populations and the hospital environment was the place where most of the research was performed. The journal with the highest number of publications has a high scientific influence among academic journals. The predominance of themes about Covid-19 was observed through the analysis of terms. Conclusion: bibliometric indicators indicate existing directions and gaps in the scientific production of Covid-19, which will assist in the development of future research, especially at the national level.
Objective:To analyze scientific production about workplace bullying and harassment in dissertations and theses in Brazil, with emphasis on the year of publication; educational institution; area of knowledge; professional and academic background of the authors; keywords used; and concept map organization. Method: Bibliometric study with a quantitative approach with a sample consisting of 57 papers, 5 theses and 52 dissertations, published between 2002 and 2012. Results: It was found that 2012 was the year with the highest number of publications in this topic area. The region that stood out was the Southeast. The institution with the highest number of publications was the Federal University of Santa Catarina. There was a predominance of dissertations and most publications were produced by researchers focused on a multidisciplinary perspective. The discussion about the practice of psychological harassment has gained notoriety due to the intensification and the severity of the phenomenon in various scenarios, such as educational institutions, public agencies and private companies. This study aims to characterize the scientific production about the scenarios of psychological harassment in online journals in the areas of Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities from 2002 to 2010. This is an integrative literature review. Its sample consists of 24 publications. The survey revealed that most of the publications were made from 2005 to 2010. Highlighted areas of knowledge were Health Sciences and Humanities. We identified three scenarios of psychological harrassment: education institutions, public agencies and private companies. We conclude that psychological harrassment affects workers employed in various work scenarios, and that the discussion about this phenomenon stands in the interdisciplinary field.
