Introdução: a DRGE é uma condição de sintomas incômodos e complicações que resultam do refluxo do conteúdo do estômago para o esôfago. Estudos sugerem que ocorre em cerca de 50% dos lactentes abaixo de 2 meses de idade, 60 a 70% dos lactentes de 3 a 4 meses e 5% dos lactentes aos 12 meses de idade. O objetivo é reunir evidências para constatar a segurança do tratamento medicamentoso para DRGE em crianças. Materiais e métodos: A pesquisa foi realizada através dos seguintes descritores: “gastroesophageal reflux diseases”, “children” e “drug treatment” combinados entre si por operadores booleanos. Ao aplicar todos os critérios de inclusão e exclusão, obteve-se uma amostra de 5 artigos. Resultados e discussão: O tratamento medicamentoso de DRGE consiste basicamente em drogas inibidoras de bomba de prótons (IBPs), que bloqueiam a etapa final da liberação do ácido gástrico devido à inibição da enzima H+/K+-ATPase. Em relação à associação de métodos não medicamentosos à terapia de supressão ácida, foi realizado um ensaio clínico randomizado que se propôs a esclarecer a superioridade do tratamento combinado. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o tratamento com IBPs e até mesmo o uso off-label de metoclopramida podem ser benéficos como terapia antirrefluxo na população pediátrica.
