O hidrogênio consiste em um combustível alternativo e pode ser produzido a partir de diversas fontes, como hidrocarbonetos, álcoois e água. A produção a partir da reforma do etanol com vapor d’água vem ganhando destaque visto que o etanol é menos tóxico e produzido em grandes quantidades no Brasil. O processo citado não requer O2, apenas água e etanol são alimentados, além disso apresenta uma relação H2/CO2 alta e um grande rendimento de hidrogênio. Diversos catalisadores são testados para verificar o maior desenvolvimento da reação, e menor formação de intermediários. Neste trabalho, estudou-se as influências na reforma com vapor d’água do etanol com catalisadores bimetálicos Ni-Cu. Utilizando CeO2 como suporte, dopados com Na2O e K2O, visando à redução da formação de coque e aumento da atividade catalítica.
RESUMO -O aumento dos problemas ambientais devido ao uso de combustíveis fósseis tem estimulado a busca por novas alternativas de combustíveis de fontes renováveis, como o uso de hidrogênio em células a combustível. Por isso a pesquisa da produção de hidrogênio a partir do etanol tem sido objeto de numerosos trabalhos de pesquisa. Com o objetivo de desenvolver novos catalisadores para essa reação, estudou-se neste trabalho dois catalisadores diferentes, Cu/Ni/Na 2 O/Nb 2 O 5 e Cu/Ni/CeO 2 . O catalisador suportado em Nb 2 O 5 apresentou alta conversão e baixa estabilidade devido à alta formação de coque. Por outro lado, o catalisador suportado em CeO 2 apresenta baixa seletividade e baixa conversão, mas é muito mais estável.
INTRODUÇÃOA demanda de energia, crescente em todas as partes do mundo, vem fazendo com que, diariamente, milhões de toneladas de poluentes sejam lançados na atmosfera, sendo principalmente de gases derivados da queima de combustíveis fósseis contribuindo para um aumento bastante significativo do efeito estufa. Em vista disso, o aumento da importância dos processos ambientalmente corretos tem conduzido a ciência rumo ao desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias, como a de geração de energia elétrica a partir do hidrogênio em células a combustível.Em função disso, há uma busca intensa pela maior eficiência na produção de hidrogênio a partir de tecnologias consolidadas como a reforma de metano e metanol com vapor d'água. Paralelamente, a busca por novas tecnologias que utilizem materiais não fósseis ganhou destaque. Com o agravamento das questões ambientais em todo o planeta, a utilização de fontes não fósseis em toda a matriz energética levou à comunidade científica a se interessar pelo estudo da reforma do etanol por vapor d'água. O etanol é um material de origem não fóssil, provém de fonte renovável, sendo particularmente interessante nas regiões com grandes produções de canade-açúcar ou cereais. Em países como o Brasil essa alternativa é particularmente atraente, pois etanol é produzido em larga escala, a partir da cana-de-açúcar, matéria prima, do ponto de vista energético, conhecidamente mais eficiente que o milho, por exemplo (Garoma et al., 2012).
