Resumo: a partir da emergência da pandemia provocada pelo novo coronavírus em 2020, observou-se um significativo uso das ferramentas disponíveis na internet para atividades que foram interrompidas de serem presenciais. Diante desse cenário, o campo religioso apresentou adequações em relação aos encontros presenciais e coletivos por meio do espaço virtual. Para refletir sobre religião e pandemia, propomos neste artigo apresentar alguns resultados encontrados por meio de observação netnográfica, enfatizando no estudo a comparação acerca da atuação entre dois líderes de matriz religiosas distintas, cujos protagonismos partem de seus envolvimentos na organização de marchas religiosas realizadas na cidade de Pelotas (RS). O deslocamento das ruas para o virtual será a chave para compreender sobre o agir religioso e suas tensões no espaço público.
Este artigo resgata uma parte do meu material etnográfico referente a presença pública das religiões de matriz africana na cidade de Pelotas, no qual foi observado que em diferentes períodos destacou-se uma figura marcante – o orixá Bará. A partir da presença do orixá Bará busco traçar acontecimentos que demarcam a transformação na relação do espaço público com as religiões afro-brasileiras. Nesse sentido, retomando as diferentes fases relacionadas ao orixá Bará na cidade, pretendo trazer como o fazer religioso emerge na cena pública através de controvérsias, sobretudo, a partir da prática sagrada situada no ritual, e se desdobra em processos de territorialização e reconhecimento.
