La resistencia bacteriana frente a los antibióticos ha tomado importancia en los últimos años como un gran problema en la salud pública, que involucra tanto a la medicina humana, como a la medicina veterinaria y a la seguridad alimentaria como ambiental en Perú. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron detectar fenotípica y genotípica cepas de Escherichia coli (Escherich, 1885) productoras de enzimas β-Lactamasas de espectro extendido (βLEE), aisladas en aves de abasto en un laboratorio privado ubicado en la ciudad de Lima, Perú. Se evaluaron 185 aislamientos de E. coli procedentes de aves de 26 empresas de crianza intensiva ubicadas en Perú. Los resultados reflejan en 38,4% de las cepas con presencia de enzimas βLEE confirmadas fenotípicamente; asimismo se expresó genes a partir de ADN total por reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) obteniendo 33,5% entre los genes blaTEM, blaSHV y blaCTX-M-1 y el 4,9% de cepas E. coli productoras de βLEE fenotípico, sin gen bla determinado. Se concluye que la presencia de cepas de E. coli productoras de enzimas β-Lactamasas de espectro extendido (βLEE), es elevada, siendo el gen tipo blaCTX-M-1 el más frecuente.
Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, al igual que otras bacterias asociadas a cuadros de orden respiratorio, viene siendo sometida a una exigente presión de selección debido al uso de desinfectantes y antibióticos, lo cual ha venido generando cepas multidrogo resistentes, así como un incremento en la variabilidad genética. El objetivo del estudio fue caracterizar 36 aislados de O. rhinotracheale provenientes de aves de corral de cinco regiones del Perú, mediante un perfil de ocho antibióticos (fosfomicina, amoxicilina, ciprofloxacina, enrofloxacina, norfloxacina, sulfatrimetopim, doxiciclina, oxitetraciclina), y genotipificación por técnicas de ERIC-PCR. Los resultados indican la presencia de multidrogo resistencia de 2 a 6 antibióticos en 94.4% (n=34) de las cepas y 6.6% (n=2) cepas fueron resistentes a un antibiótico, siendo la resistencia más común a la fosfomicina (77.8%) seguido del sulfatrimetopim (75.0%). Se encontraron 11 perfiles genéticos diferenciados (A-K), siendo el perfil D más frecuente en los aislados (55.6%). Los resultados sugieren la presencia de cepas de O. rhinotracheale con moderada variabilidad y perfiles de resistencia a los antibiótico fosfomicina y sulfatrimetopim.
