The main aim of the investigations is to compare and evaluate several models of martensitic transformation and transformationinduced plasticity (TRIP) for the bearing steel 100Cr6, with and without taking stress dependence into account. At first, the investigations are based on measured data of tension-compression tests with small probes undergoing martensitic transformation at a special testing machine. Secondly, we consider martensitic quenching of thin conical rings. In case of symmetric quenching by gas nozzles, the rings undergo distortion the major part of which can only be explained by TRIP, while the usual plasticity is negligible. The 3D-simulations will be compared with experimental data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
