! ! !Abstract: The social history of written culture has developed in recent years an increasing interest in the functions, meanings and appropriations of the written forms. Although they are well known, however, proclamations, edicts and other official documents have not been studied through the written culture methods. "Minor materials" but also ephemerals that, concerning to their typology and public dissemination, could be called "displayed writings" or "public letters", as Armando Petrucci called them in La scrittura: ideologia e rappresentazione (1986), currently studied by Antonio Castillo Gómez. There are many studies about these documents during the colonial era, although many of them focusing in their content and rules. This paper proposes the study of administrative or bureaucratic products in order to approach to the way information circulated both oral and written form, in urban space during the early modern age both in Spain and America. To this end, we propose the formal and graphical analysis of the channels through which they circulated, or areas intended for public dissemination, that acquired a recognized function of points of information.!
