Der 22. Band des E.T.A. Hoffmann-Jahrbuchs stellt einen neu aufgefundenen Brief Hoffmanns an F. L. Bührlen vor. Er enthält Aufsätze über die Rhetorik der Säkularisation in Hoffmanns Erzählung „Die Automate“ und die Leseranreden in dem Märchen „Meister Floh“. Abgeschlossen wird der Abdruck der zeitgenössischen Rezensionen über Hoffmanns in Buchform erschienene Werke mit den Besprechungen der „Serapions-Brüder“. Drei Beiträge gelten dem Musiker und Musikschriftsteller Hoffmann. Sie behandeln seine Ästhetik des Strophenliedes sowie die Bedeutung seines literarischen Werkes und seiner Musikästhetik für Richard Wagner. Der umfangreiche Besprechungsteil informiert über eine Reihe von Neuerscheinungen zu Hoffmann, seinem Werk und seiner Wirkung. Die Mitteilungen „Aus der E.T.A. Hoffmann-Gesellschaft“ berichten u.a. über die Jahresversammlung 2014 in Berlin.
