La pandemia de COVID-19 ocasionó graves efectos en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad a escala mundial. En México, los afectos en el sector educativo se comenzaron a experimentar en marzo de 2020 con el aislamiento social que visibilizó problemas importantes del sistema educativo, entre los que destacan tres: las instituciones educativas no estaban preparadas para migrar a la virtualidad; las políticas de estado para la inclusión digital no fueron efectivas, y la brecha digital era más profunda de lo que hasta entonces se creía. En los hogares en los que los recursos permitieron migrar a la virtualidad, se sufrió una transformación de un espacio para la convivencia a un espacio multifuncional, para el trabajo y el estudio. En este documento se presentan las reflexiones acerca de los principales hallazgos de un estudio realizado en cuatro instituciones de bachillerato tecnológico en Jalisco, uno de los 32 estados en los que políticamente se encuentra dividido México y que por sus indicadores socioeconómicos se encuentra en los principales de este país. Asimismo, se presenta un análisis de los retos que se vivieron en la escuela y en el hogar, durante la pandemia, finalizando con una reflexión sobre la eficacia de las políticas públicas nacionales sobre inclusión digital y las estrategias educativas implementadas por el sistema educativo mexicano.
