The article tackles the problem of lexicographical description of scientific terminology in modern special and general-purpose online dictionaries. The authors reveal specificity of a term definition in the general-purpose and terminological dictionary, consider linguistic characteristics of special vocabulary in different types of dictionaries, identify and describe the basic means of an economic term semantization using the logical-conceptual analysis of the term system. The data of the empirical material allow concluding that the generic notion of a term varies in terminological and general-purpose dictionaries.
