Background: In the paper the formation of world-class research universities is analysed. The paper studies the history of the research university, prerequisites of its appearance, formation and its development toward modern research university. The modern research university is being cautiously viewed nowadays. The crisis of the university is its reality. The question of the corporate culture formation is now considered to be a topical matter in connection with globalization process, Methods: The authors implemented comparative analysis by comparing Humboldt's model of the research university and the modern one. Results: The comparison is made in regard to the idea of university, its criteria and mission. Special emphasis is laid on the analysis and comparison of corporate culture systems. Conclusions: Corporate culture is a novel criterion of the classical university that has recently arisen in the information society and now characterizes the university in a complementary way: on the one hand, as a competitive market entity, and on the other hand, as a guardian of its traditional, historically formed humanitarian criteria, ideas and mission. The following conclusion has been reached: the updated parameters have the identical form to those found by W. von Humboldt, only essence has changed
Background: The crisis that the modern university is experiencing today, is conditioned by the crisis of its idea as of a classicalessence. The idea of university was formulated by W. von Humboldt, however, its history starts with the Greek-Roman era whenthe ancient philosophy in its cognitive attitude to the world saw its truth, leaning on intelligence that brought it to the harmony ofbeauty and good. In this quality, the idea of university was changing the university history. However, today, by rejecting anynatural unity and integrity and also reconsidering classics, the postmodern views diversify the classical university and eliminatethe possibility of its common form. Questions arise: can the common idea for the university be preserved in these conditions? Will it be preserved (and should it be preserved) by the postmodern culture? Is it possible today to have the unity of theuniversity as a classical social and educational institution? Do modern university models (entrepreneurial, corporate, research, etc.) have their own idea? Methods: The purpose of this article is to search for differences between the modern and classicaluniversities. The comparative method is used. Results: Distinctive characteristics (peculiarities) of the modern university havebeen discovered and described. Conclusions: A conclusion is drawn that there are transformations of the modern university formsin accordance with the conditions of the modern culture
There is a challenge of developing computer programming visual language in the sphere of interdisciplinary research -cybernetics and philosophy, in particular, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of language and new area of the philosophical analysis -«philosophy of information». We consider the aspect «language -thinking» and the stages of developing interaction between a person and information environment by means of programs. We set up the problem concerning the necessity to find the ways of constructing software by nonprofessionals. We offer the efficient way to eliminate the distinction in the system «interface-software programming language» via using visual programming language as a tool for people to communicate with machine. We designate the prospects of using visual programming languages and difficulties in their creation and implementation. We conclude that developing cloud technologies opens up new opportunities to make cross-subject tools of creating and changing software functionality by people without professional qualifications in programming. It is noted that developing and using visual languages can have considerable impact on the development of nano-bio-info-cogno technologies (NBIC) as well as on the research in the field of cognitive management, artificial intelligence as modeling visual thinking and other research areas. We recommend further understanding how to use visual programming languages in social, philosophical and psychological aspects.
The university model of enterprise type of 21st century is analyzed. The transfer of classical university model into entrepreneurial one presents a threat to the university cultural mission. The Science and Education become more valuable as they produce knowledge, which becomes an item of goods. The authors compare modern university model with classic one. Following the hermeneutical method, the modern epoch is presented as a period of economic mercantilism and knowledge is interpreted as symbolic capital. In addition to that, the formation premise of the education market and open knowledge market are analyzed. The transformation of university structures is explored in the context of knowledge capitalization process. The article shows the knowledge as a source of innovation and the university as a result of commercial competition. The interconnection between the modern university and the mainstreaming of research project results into new technologies is based on contractual relationship (treaty relations). This relationship is defined by the term «innovation zone», which presents the final phase of the innovation cycle. We conclude that in the context of "knowledge capitalism" universities become the means of competition for global leadership in the high technologies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
