The delays in the construction industry are a global phenomenon and are considered as one of the most persistent problems throughout the world. The construction industry of Pakistan is also no exception to it. The key controlling features of time, cost, quality and safety for a project are adversely affected by the impacts of such delays. The delays in construction industry have many after effects among which the main are time extension, cost overrun, disputes, arbitrations and litigations. The main purpose of this study is to identify the delays that result in time extension factors for project completion. Earlier studies have mostly emphasized on the major causes or the effects of project delays. This study investigates the factors contributing in time extensions in construction project according to key participants of the projects i.e. contractors, consultants and the clients. In this regards, the time extension data of almost 50 projects have been consulted to identify the significant factors contributing in time extensions for completion of the projects. From the data, the 27 key factors were identified which have significant contributions in time extensions. Based upon these factors, a questionnaire has was developed and distributed among professional working in the construction industry for their response to assess the contributions of these factors in the time extension grants in construction industry of Pakistan. The study revealed that domestic issues of the country are the major factors resulting in the delayed completion of the projects.
Use of Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) has seen a tremendous rise in the past few years in Pakistan. This investigation is based on establishing reasons of this increasing trend from the perspective of new technologies being introduced by service sector organizations especially banks in this country. The research was based on lessons learnt in use of ATMs in other countries and evaluating the personality, benefit and behavioral responses of the customers through quantitative analysis based on a questionnaire covering all these attributes of customers. The results were analyzed using statistical tools. It was observed that customers preferred convenience of use of ATMs when the banks started converting the software to their national language as well as the availability of more number of ATMs in near vicinity of customers. The study confrrmed that a huge potential market existed for foreign banks to open their branches in limited locations and connect these to all other ATMs networks and could reap the benefits of their businesses in over 160 Million people economy.
The extraordinary rate of development in information technologies can bring additional costs and failure if psychological reactions and organizational factors are ignored by system designers. Therefore, this research study explores the key factors of police officers' acceptance and attitudes through a research survey and by gathering empirical evidence based on the integrated research framework. Data collected from 200 respondents was tested against the research model. The findings confirm the good model fit by supporting four out of six hypotheses. The results lead to make several suggestions for the police sector and IT policy-makers to use as guidelines for the future development of this service.
