Introdução: O tratamento feito com uso de plantas medicinais é denominado de fitoterapia, e os fitoterápicos são os medicamentos produzidos a partir dessas plantas. Comumente, países com uma vasta flora são beneficiados pelo uso de plantas medicinais, no Brasil existem políticas públicas que facilitam o acesso e a produção de fitoterápicos, assim como a pesquisa científica com espécies vegetais. Ainda assim, algumas plantas ainda estão escassas de literatura, principalmente espécies vegetais do bioma caatinga no nordeste brasileiro. Diante disso, o desenvolvimento de novas pesquisas em plantas com atividade terapêutica ou com aplicações, buscando uma terapêutica acessível e eficaz. Objetivo: Analisar os dados científicos registrados sobre as atividades terapêuticas de plantas do gênero Syagrus. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa realizada entre abril e maio de 2021, através de artigos publicados nas bases de dados, PubMed e ScienceDirect, pelo uso dos Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS): "Syagrus" "Agents Antimicrobial" e "Anti-inflammatory" e com o auxílio dos operadores booleano AND. Artigos originais disponíveis nos idiomas inglês e português foram incluídos. Resultados e Discussão: Os artigos encontrados mostraram resultados positivos, porém em números baixos, para a pesquisa de espécies vegetais do gênero Syagrus. Foram encontrados 5 espécies diferentes, sendo elas S. coronata, S. oleracea, S. inajai, S. romanzoffiana e S cearensis, além de 8 aplicações terapêuticas diferentes estudadas, sendo estas, desde atividades antimicrobianas a analgésica e antioxidante. Conclusão: Ainda que encontrando poucos artigos na literatura, o gênero Syagrus mostrou-se promissor para desenvolvimento de novos medicamentos fitoterápicos. Sendo ainda, a necessidade de novos estudos para elucidação de suas vias de ação no organismo humano.
Introdução: A Passiflora incarnata da família Passifloriceae é conhecida popularmente como flor-da-paixão e maracujá vermelho, não muito cultivada no Brasil mas, de grande importância terapêutica. Seu uso popular está ligado ao tratamento de distúrbios mentais, como insônia e ansiedade, além disso este vegetal possui outras atividades terapêuticas como anti-inflamatória. Objetivo: Realizar um estudo retrospectivo literário sobre a P. incarnata e sua ação antiinflamatória. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura, na qual foram analisados artigos publicados na língua portuguesa, inglesa e espanhola, entre os anos 2015 a 2020, no período de agosto de 2020. Os artigos foram selecionados das bases de dados: Scielo, Lilacs, Portal CAPES e PubMED, usando os descritores: Passiflora, sistema imunitário e maracujá. Foram excluídos estudos que não tinham relações com o tema. Sendo, portanto, selecionados 10 artigos, diante das 25 publicações averiguadas. Resultados: Recentemente pode-se constatar que um metabólito do grupo dos flavanóides presente na P. incarnata atua modelando as células envolvidas na inflamação, iniciada por uma reação do tecido vivo vascularizado à injúria tecidual local. Monitorando a resposta imunológica inibindo a liberação de linfócitos T e citocinas próinflamatórias, além de controlar os eventos enzimáticos do ácido aracdônico substrato da lipoxigenase e fosfolipase A2. Conclusão: Portanto, foi possível constatar na literatura que a P. incarnata possui substâncias capazes de atuar em processos inflamatórios reduzindo a atividade imunológica através da inibição de células pró-inflamatórias, controlando a cascata de eventos fisiológicos que ocorrem em decorrência da injúria tecidual inicial, diminuindo os sintomas causados pela inflamação.
