Skin needs care to avoid premature aging. One of them is treatment with natural-based masks that have antioxidant activity. This study aims to see the antioxidant potential of various concentrations of natural ingredients yogurt and seaweed Eucheuma cottonii as active substances in the manufacture of peel-off gel masks. The method used in this research is the fermentation method for making yogurt, stability test for 28 days at room temperature and antioxidant test with DPPH, to determine the antioxidant power of the five variations of the mask formulation by measuring the IC50 value obtained by reading the absorbance with UV Spectrophotometer -Vis. The results obtained from this study are Formula 4 (F4) has the lowest IC50 value of 18.647 where the IC50 value can be categorized as an antioxidant with very strong strength. The results of the stability test can be stated that the preparation remains stable at room temperature storage for 28 days. The conclusion from the results of this study is that F4 (yogurt: seaweed 1:1) has the highest antioxidant activity strength among other formulations.
Background : Nata de tuberosum is a fermented food made of potatoes. Potatoes are tubers that are rich in carbohydrates that can be used as materials for nata. The cellulose in nata that produced by bacteria Acetobacter xylinum can be isolated into a microcrystalline cellulose. MCC is widely used in the pharmaceutical field as a tablet excipient. Method : Isolation was done by the hydrolysis of α cellulose with HCl 2,5N. Microcrystalline cellulose were compared with Avicel pH 102. Tablet was made by direct compression method. Result : The results of organoleptic test is white powder, slightly brown, odorless and tasteless. Test identification result is blueviolet, starch test result is negative, the value of shrink of drying is 4.80%, a pH 6.84, a flow rate is 11.81 g/sec, angle of repose: 39.19 o , compressibility 14.95%, soluble 0,13% and a water content of 4,98%. FTIR test results of nata de tuberosum similar with Avicel pH 102. SEM test results on MCCNDT similar with Avicel pH 102. XRD test show peaks that similar with Avicel pH 102. Conclusion : the result of characteristic MCCNDT similar with Avicel pH 102. Tablet evaluation similar with tablet of Avicel pH 102.
Microcrystalline cellulose is one of the excipients of the tablet. So far the pharmaceutical industry uses microcrystalline cellulose from synthetic materials, not much development of microcrystalline cellulose from natural materials. Pineapple fruit with abundant availability in Indonesia can be used as a base material in microcrystalline cellulose manufacturing process, pineapple fruit previously processed first into nata de pina. Pineapple fruit can be used as the basic ingredients of nata because pineapple fruit contains carbohydrates, vitamins and water needed in the process of fermentation of pineapple juice by Acetobacter xylinum bacteria. Objective: To find out whether nata de pina can be used as raw material for microcrystalline cellulose manufacture. Find out the characterization of microcrystalline cellulose from nata de pina and compare it with avicel PH 102 Knowing the characterization of tablets using microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina as excipient material. Methodology: Preparation of nata de pina, evaluation of nata de pina, manufacturing of microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina, evaluation of microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina, optimization of furosemide tablet formulations, evaluation of furosemide tablets, comparison test. Result: Nata de pina can be used as raw material in making microcrystalline cellulose. The SEM test shows the existence of size and shape equation between microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina and avicel PH 102. The formula with the best tablet that is the 2nd formula using microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina of 60%, tablet formula 2 has a break time 5,91 minutes With the amount of dissolved furosemide in the 60th minute of 87.20%. Tablets using microcrystalline cellulose nata de pina as 60% concentrates have faster disintegration time and better dissolution profiles than tablets using avicel PH 102 at the same amount. In the dissolution profile comparison test, tablets using avicel PH 102 had a reduced number of furosemides in the 60th minute ie only 86.56%. This is related to the time destroyed tablets avicel PH 102 is longer that is 8.32 minutes..
