RESUMOAs populações do campo ou da zona rural são aquelas que possuem uma vida vinculada à terra. São consideradas vulneráveis para diversos agravos de saúde, devido às dificuldades de acesso aos serviços públicos de saúde, saneamento e educação. Entre diversas vulnerabilidades, estão as infecções sexualmente transmissíveis -ISTs, que têm sido ao longo de muitos anos consideradas doenças urbanas. O objetivo deste estudo foi de realizar um levantamento em artigos sociológicos e pesquisas científicas que retratem as atuais relações entre as populações rurais, seus comportamentos sociais e as ISTs. As populações um pouco mais afastadas dos grandes centros, por muitas vezes, ficam desassistidas (ou menos assistidas) pelos governos deixando de receber insumos, orientação em saúde e assistência médica. São necessários mais estudos sobre as consequências do aumento de ISTs no meio rural, para que seja possível promover ações visualizando mitigar esses efeitos e promover saúde, evitando a perpetuação dessas iniquidades.
