With the advent of the industrial revolution 4.0, the goal of the manufacturing industry is to produce a large number of products in relatively less time. This study applies the Taguchi L27 orthogonal array methodological paradigm along with response surface design. This work optimizes the process parameters in the turning of Aluminum Alloy 7075 using a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine. The optimal parameters influenced the rate of metal removal, the roughness of the machined surface, and the force of cutting. This experimental investigation deals with the optimization of speed (800 rpm, 1200 rpm, and 1600 rpm) and feed (0.15, 0.20, and 0.25 mm/rev) in addition to cutting depth (1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm) on the turning of Aluminum 7075 alloy in a CNC machine. The outcome in terms of results such as the removal rate of material (maximum), roughness on the machined surface (minimum), along with cutting force (least amount) were improved by the L27 array Taguchi method. There were 27 specimens of Al7075 alloy produced as per the array, and the corresponding responses were measured with the help of various direct contact and indirect contact sensors. Results were concluded all the way through diagrams of main effects in favor of signal-to-noise ratios and diagrams of surfaces with contour diagrams for various combinations of responses.
The stress shielding effect is an event in which the replacement implant limits the load transferred to bone and the ineffective stress in the vertebrae causes bony growth to cease. In the present study, a 3D finite element L4-L5 model was developed and subjected to a 1200 N compression preload. Five groups of muscle forces were applied on L4 under flexion-extension, lateral bending and axial rotation. Topology optimisation was employed for reducing the stress shielding effect by removing the ineffective material from the design domain. The optimised design was designed with polyaryletheretherketone (PEEK) titanium and cortical materials to encounter the shielding response. The stress responses show that the new design increased the stress magnitude by at least 17.10, 18.11 and 18.43% in 4 Nm of flexion-extension, lateral bending and axial rotation, respectively. In conclusion, the material factor did not significantly alter the stress magnitude, but volume was the key factor in reducing the stress shielding effect.
This paper presents an automatic water irrigation and drainage system designed to increase the yield production of rice and improve water use efficiency. Water level sensors are placed in the rice field and continuously measure the water level. The system automatically irrigates water through the entrance gate when the water level is lower than the desired level. The entrance gate closes after the water level reaches the desired level. When the water level in the rice field is higher than the desired level, the system either opens the exit gate if the drain is empty, or switches on the pump if the drain is full of water.Index Terms-automated irrigation, paddy field, water level, agriculture, paddy irrigation.
