This study uses a literature review to study the effects of play therapy used as an intervention in children with anxiety disorders. The literature consists of 15 international journals published from 2015-2018. The review covers the subject, the design, and the setting of the therapy, as well as the type of game applied. Based on the results of the review, it is known that play therapy is effective in reducing anxiety in children with vulnerable ages ranging from 3-16 years old using various materials and different settings. In addition to reducing anxiety, play therapy can also reduce negative emotions, aggression and can improve the social abilities and academic performance of children with anxiety disorders. Play therapy is often applied to children who experience anxiety disorders while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The results of this research review are expected to be a reference for further research, especially research conducted in Indonesia.
The subject is an 18-year-old prisoner who was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. The assessments used include interviews, observations, WARTEGG tests, SSCT tests, and Graphic tests. The results of the assessment show that the subject is a person who is difficult to adjust to a new environment, cannot accept his current life and wants to commit suicide. The intervention given was Reality Therapy which consisted of seven sessions. The purpose of this intervention is to help the subject to realize his own needs and make the right decisions for him. The results of the intervention showed that the subject became more accepting of his life in prison and could more calmly carry out activities in prison.
This article provides information about how problem-solving therapy can reduce depressive symptoms in terms of reducing depression when combined with other interventions that have the same purpose of decreasing depressive symptoms. This article analyzes how each intervention, combined with problem-solving therapy (PST), can affect depressive symptoms in individuals. Besides, it gives information on the combination of interventions that are most recommended for reducing depressive symptoms. The review of several PST studies on other interventions showed significant success in lowering depressive symptoms. However, some other interventions combined with PST did not show a significant change in the subject after getting treatment. PST is effective in reducing the level of depression in adults, can reduce anxiety in individuals with depression, can be effective in helping to lose weight when combined with pharmacology, and reduce suicidal ideation in depressed individuals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
