Abstract-Commercial off-the-shelf gaming devices (e.g. such as Kinect) are demonstrating to have a great potential beyond their initial service purpose. In particular, when integrated within the environment or as part of smart objects, peripheral COTS for gaming may facilitate the definition of novel interaction methods, particularly applicable to smart spaces service concepts. In this direction, this paper describes a system prototype that makes possible to deliver multimodal interaction with the media contents in a Virtual Window. Using a Kinect device, the Interactive Window itself adjusts the video clipping to the real time perspective of the user -who can freely move within the sensor coverage are. On the clipped video, the user is able to select objects by pointing at meaningful image sections and to initiate actions related to them. Voice orders may also complete the interaction when necessary. Although implemented for smart spaces, the service concept can also be applied to learning, remote control processes or teleconference.
There are many studies related with airport surface routing algorithms, based on different approaches and with different evaluation methods and metrics. So, the need of performing a balanced analysis and comparison using a common framework is evident. This paper presents an implementation of an evaluation tool for airport surface routing algorithms. The routing evaluation tool presented here is based in three basic pillars composed by the airport model, the model and generation of traffic and a comprehensive figure of merit function. The paper includes some example evaluations performed over Barajas Airport with representative traffic samples using several simple routing methods.
This paper describes two systems that can be used to obtain realistic random traffic samples in a terminal area: a real traffic analyser and a synthetic traffic generator. These two systems allow the air traffic management (ATM) engineer to gain insight on the traffic structure of the area under analysis, and allow obtaining realistic traffic samples enabling the evaluation of new operational concepts, the validation or system performance measurement after procedure changes, the analysis of ATM performance under forecasted future traffic changes, etc. Together with the design of the system, the work provides insight of user interfaces and describes the potential uses of such tools in an integrated ATM system.
