En el marco del Plan Integral de Actuación en el Valle de Ambrona (extremo suroriental de la provincia de Soria), se viene desarrollando desde hace cinco años un proyecto de investigación sobre la introducción de la agricultura en el interior de la Península Ibérica (Rojo, 1994, 1999; Rojo y Estremera, 2000; Rojo y Kunst, 1999a-c; 2000; Rojo, Negredo y Sanz, 1996; Rojo, Kunst y Palomino, 2002). Dicho proyecto se incluye dentro de las actividades de investigación programadas por el Departamento de Prehistoria de la Universidad de Valladolid en colaboración con el Instituto Arqueológico Alemán de Madrid. Desde un principio consideramos fundamental la realización de prácticas de arqueología experimental no sólo por lo que supone para la difusión de los conocimientos que genera la investigación al resto de la sociedad, sino por lo que aporta a los propios estudios científicos, en tanto que medio de contraste de muchas hipótesis, como se ha demostrado, por ejemplo, en la reconstrucción e incendio de la tumba neolítica de La Peña de La Abuela (Rojo, 1999).Dentro de un proyecto de investigación en curso sobre el origen de la cerveza en Europa, financiado por San Miguel Fábricas de Cerveza y Malta, S.A., y ante los resultados ofrecidos por los análisis realizados por Jordi Juan-Treserras sobre cerámicas campaniformes de La Sima, se planteó la realización de una reconstrucción de todo el proceso de elaboración de la cerveza en el Calcolítico meseteño, desde la siembra del grano hasta el producto final. Todo ello se documentará exhaustivamente en soporte fotográfico y audiovisual, y servirá de motivo para la elaboración de un documental científico sobre el particular.
Las siguientes palabras, y todas las páginas del trabajo que se desarrolla a continuación, nunca serán suficientes para expresar la infinita gratitud y la deuda, personal y científica, que he adquirido con las personas e instituciones que se citan en estas líneas. Espero que mi natural carácter olvidadizo sea capaz, al menos esta vez, de recordarlas a todas, y si alguien no se encuentra entre ellas ruego que me disculpe y que también se sienta partícipe de esta tesis doctoral.Como digo, sin las personas que aparecen en estos Agradecimientos este trabajo hubiera sido muy difícil, pero sin una de ellas, hubiese sido totalmente imposible. Me refiero a nuestro director, el profesor Manuel A. Rojo Guerra. Gracias a su generosidad y a su constante trabajo, durante los últimos diez años he podido ganarme la vida dedicando mis esfuerzos a la Arqueología, y, entre ellos, a esta tesis doctoral. Bajo su tutela he participado en diferentes proyectos de investigación, excavaciones, congresos, publicaciones, etc. que han ido forjando mi manera de ver la Prehistoria, el lector avezado verá en estas páginas su influencia, así como las de mis codirectores, fruto de múltiples conversaciones, cambios de impresiones y distintas redacciones de libros y artículos. Asimismo, una tesis como la que he realizado ha requerido de una infraestructura relativamente importante: equipos fotográficos, objetivos, ordenadores, contactos con diferentes personas e instituciones, viajes, etc., como digo, disfruté y pude realizar todo ello en un marco personal, científico y laboral que fue posible gracias a que formaba parte del equipo del profesor Rojo Guerra. Y si al profesor Manuel A. Rojo Guerra le debo todo ello, a Manolo muchísimo más.Su ilusión, su alegría y su pasión por este mundo de la Prehistoria han supuesto un ánimo y un acicate constante a lo largo de estos años. Durante este tiempo nunca he ido a "trabajar", o a "hablar con el jefe", he acabado discutiendo, charlando, colaborando, riendo y soñando con un amigo.Muchísimas gracias por todo Manolo, sólo espero que este trabajo responda, aunque sea mínimamente, a la confianza y el esfuerzo que siempre has depositado en mí.El doctor Rafael Garrido Pena, codirector de esta tesis, ha sido la persona con la que más tiempo he compartido en estos últimos años. Durante los mismos he podido disfrutar, codo con codo, de su maestría en todo lo que se refiere a la Prehistoria, y este trabajo está jalonado de sus ideas, apuntes y sugerencias que han enriquecido sobre manera el mismo, y, desde luego, si esta tesis doctoral es, si quiera, un pálido reflejo de la suya, será un gran trabajo. Asimismo, durante este tiempo hemos vivido juntos muchísimas otras cosas, gran parte de ellas más importantes, personales y afectivas, y otras infinitamente más superficiales (los penaltis casi siempre los vemos de manera diferente, por ejemplo), pero al final siempre hemos compartido algo más que la oficina, muchas
