The ionization dynamics of circular Rydberg states in strong circularly polarized infrared (800 nm) laser fields is studied by means of numerical simulations with the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. We find that at certain intensities, related to the radius of the Rydberg states, atomic stabilization sets in, and the ionization probability decreases as the intensity is further increased. Moreover, there is a strong dependence of the ionization probability on the rotational direction of the applied laser field, which can be understood from a simple classical analogy.
We present a nonperturbative theory to describe multielectronic processes occurring in the course of collisions between an ion and a molecule. The approach is based on the expansion of the electronic scattering wave function onto asymptotic mono-or multicenter states with proper translational conditions and includes both static and dynamical electronic correlations. Therefore, it has a wide application range around intermediate impact velocitieswhere v e is the averaged electron velocity in the initial state. As a first application, we report results on single-and double-electron capture processes in He 2+ -H 2 collisions for impact energies ranging from 0.01 to 25 keV/u. Special emphasis on the prediction of cross sections for double-electron capture into doubly excited states of helium is addressed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
