AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh implementasi Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sebagai media dan sumber belajar dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMA. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di sepuluh SMA Kabupaten Gorontalo, terdiri dari tujuh SMA negeri dan tiga SMA swasta. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei dengan pendekatan Cross Sectional Study. Sample 250 responden siswa SMA kelas XI diambil dari sepuluh SMA Negeri dan Swasta sebagai representasi dari populasi siswa SMA kelas XI yang ada di SMA Kabupaten Gorontalo. Sample ini diperoleh dari teknik probability sampling. Data diperoleh dengan metode kuesioner yang didistribusikan kepada 250 responden mengenai persepsi Imlementasi ICT sebagai media dan sumber belajar, dan metode dokumentasi terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang diperoleh dari nilai Ujian Tengah Semester, semester genap tahun ajar 2017/2018. Data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode Regresi Linear Sederhana untuk mengetahui pengaruh Implementasi ICT terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa analisis yang dilakukan dengan korelasi Product Moment (rxy) antara implementasi ICT (X) dengan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI (Y) diperoleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.604 nilai yang kuat. Hasil ini menunjukkan hubungan atau pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara Implementasi ICT sebagai media dan sumber belajar dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI. Nilai R Square atau nilai koefisiensi determinasi sebesar 0,365 yang berarti bahwa variabel dependen (Hasil Belajar) mampu dijelaskan oleh variabel independen (Implementasi ICT), sebesar 36,5%, sebaliknya sebesar 63,5% dapat dijelaskan oleh faktor-faktor lain yang tidak diikutsertakan dalam penelitian ini.
This research discusses the slavery experienced by the characters in the Oliver Twist novel. Those who have no family and no place to stay eventually become slaves who are forced to work for the benefit of the owner. They are treated as property and often get physical violence. This research aims to analyze the types of slavery that are reflected in Oliver Twist novel. This research using descriptive qualitative methods. Researchers used the Marxist approach and slavery theory to find the types of slavery contained in Oliver Twist novel. From the results of the analysis, it was found that there are 4 types of slavery in Oliver Twist novel, namely forced labor, sex slavery, child slavery and domestic servitude.

The film brings a cultural instrument that educates people. People can see the psychological aspects through the characters and social situation, which influences the characterization in the film. This study examines Joker (2019) a movie containing the psychological conflicts and the society problems of discrimination system in this era which affects much on the character of Arthur who suffers pseudobulbar affect. The researchers used Maslow’s Theory of Human Needs to analyze Arthur’s need to reflect society’s problem needs. A descriptive qualitative method was used in this study because it focused on the human needs of the main character. The primary data was taken from the dialogue in the film, while the secondary data was from articles discussing Arthur Fleck and society as the film's setting. The technique of collecting data was documentation while analyzing data was divided into three stages. First was data reduction; the researcher classified the data of Arthur ‘s needs and explained why they are classified into those categories. The second was data display; the data is structured and presented so that it is easier to be understood. Then, the researchers presented the data into the display categorized on each dialogue that reflected Arthur’s needs levels and the social problems faced by Arthur. Finally, the conclusion was delivered by describing Maslow's data and theory of human needs and elaborating the description of social issues at that era. The result revealed Arthur Fleck had difficulty fulfilling his basic human needs such as physiological, safety, love and belongingness and esteem needs because of the government's broken system and how society treats a person who suffers mental health disorder like Arthur Fleck. The failure to fulfill those needs has made Arthur actualize himself as the cold-blooded clown, The Joker. Then, it helps him to be recognized and being acknowledged by others.
This study investigated the cohesive errors I composing essay writing done by undergraduate English Department students of University of Muhammadiyah Gorontalo, Indonesia. In elucidating the students’ difficulties in using cohesive devices, the researchers examined the cohesive errors both quantitatively and qualitatively. This study was analyzed based on an error analysis paradigm and Halliday and Hasan’s cohesion framework and taxonomy. The quantitative analysis investigated frequency and the percentage of cohesive errors and also the types of cohesive errors committed by the student. The qualitative analysis investigated linguistic a description and the explanation of the cohesive composed by the students.
