The effect of the glue solution were investigated in the grinding and elutriation process for manufacturing of White clay pigment. In grinding process, glue solution decreased the production of a too fine powder and enhanced the degree of sorting of ground pigments. The grinding performance and limit are generally influenced by the frictional force. Therefore, the friction force was measured in accordance with the grinding conditions. As a result of measuring a friction force, when using glue solution it showed the lowest friction. Finally, the application of glue solution in grinding process is believed to enhance the degree of sorting of ground pigments by reducing frictional force. In elutriation process, the application of glue solution enabled the screening of larger particles in the same conditions by reducing the sedimentation velocity. This result is due to increase in the viscosity of the glue solution according to glue concentration. As a result, the application of glue solution in elutriation process is though to enlarges the range of the selectable particle size and to enable the segmentation of the particles.
The aim of this study is to analyze the research trends on Hanji (Korean traditional paper) in the academic literatures based on the purpose, content, and findings of various studies, and to present a direction for future research. Research papers published in 12 academic journals over the past 51 years were collected using 167 key-words for the search, and of them, 178 papers were selected for analysis. Statistical analysis of these papers based on year, research content, and discipline to understand and quantify the research trend. Revealed that the frequency of the published research paper was generally proportional by number of research projects in domestic government departments. They also indicated that while there were several studies on property valuation or functionality improvement of Hanji based on experiments, research was lacking in the areas of observation, analysis, case studies, and status survey of Hanji. The present study provides basic data for establishing the direction of research on Hanji.
The purpose of this study is to analyse the properties of Seokrok and Noerok that are used for restoration of heritage and arts. Malachite is main constituent mineral for Seokrok and Celadonite is Main component of Noerok. To evaluate the physical properties of pigment, A,B-class Seokrok and heated Seokrok that are sold in market were selected. To compare this results, Noerok sold in Japan were studied. In addition, we studied the pigments of Noerok. The heat treatment had no significant effect on the physical properties, except for the color-difference. The color-difference of Seokrok is larger than that of the Noerok sold in Japan. The a * values of Seokrok specimens are horizontal distribution, so it will expand the coloring ranges. The properties that are chromaticity, specific gravity and oil-absorption of Noerok are different from Seokrok. Noerok is suggested that achromatic color because the values of a * located near zero. Specific gravity of Noerok is smaller than Seokrok, but oil-absorption is larger twice. Noerok and Amnok, although ingredients are different, it is possible to use alternative because of similar physical characteristics.
The present study aimed to monitor changes in the amount of PEG free-flowing back from PEG-treated woods and compressive strength changes with change in relative humidity from 90% to 30%. The change in the relative humidity was done 3 times. For the current study, waterlogged wood (Prinus group) was used and the wooden blocks cut out of it were subjected to 3 different impregnation methods combined with different drying conditions as follows: 1) impregnating with 80% PEG#4000 followed by drying in nature (hereafter PEG80), 2) impregnating with 40% PEG#4000 and then drying in vacuum freeze drying equipment (hereafter PEG40), and 3) impregnating with 40% PEG#4000 in t-butanol, followed by drying in the vacuum freeze drying equipment (hereafter TB40). It was verified that most of the PEG was free-flowing back from the PEG-treated woods; however, a small amount of left PEG was observed on the lumen surface. The amount of PEG free-flowing back from the PEG-treated woods increased whenever the relative humidity changes from 90% to 30%. The compressive strengths of PEG80 and TB40 were increased whenever the relative humidity changed from 90% to 30%, whereas PEG40 decreased. The current study showed how to control the relative humidity to effectively manage PEG-treated waterlogged woods.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
