ABSTRACT. Our paper performs a comparative analysis of the development level of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) concept in Romania and Poland. The descriptive part of our study focuses on literature review in order to present the latest trends regarding CSR programs and practices implemented by both large and small companies originating from these two countries. Having in mind the idea that universities are assigned with the vital role in educating and disseminating socially responsible behaviour on both individuals and enterprises, we shifted our area of investigation on the issue of CSR education within Romanian and Polish context. As we noticed lack of research on the effectiveness of CSR courses in Romania as well as in Poland, we designed an empirical study which aims to shed light on the main factors that determine the level of CSR awareness among Bachelor graduates from a Romanian university.
The objective of the paper consists in determining the level of awareness towards sustainability and ecological issues for Russian and Romanian oil and gas multinational companies (MNCs). Thus, we employed a qualitative approach on the issue, both by investigating the information disclosed in sustainability and/or CSR reports from a sample of Russian and Romanian corporations and by keeping trace of the adequacy of their reporting practice with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. Our results substantiate that large South-Eastern corporations form resource-based sectors have initiated, over the last few years, coherent programs in terms of environmental reporting, which were designed to catch up with their western rivals.
The main goal of every bank is managing the risks arising from banking transactions in order to have a profitable activity. Bank managers must identify and manage all risks associated with each business they enter into, since exposure to significant risks reduces the present value of expected future cash flow. The main financial risks associated with the activities of a bank arise as a result of the bank's operations in the financial sector. Financial risks a bank is confronted consist of credit risk, liquidity risk, market risks (interest rate risk and currency risk). Because an inefficient management of financial risks causes the majority of bankruptcies in the banking system, this category of risks has a significant position in the managerial process of any bank. Our paper focuses on assessing the exposure of a commercial bank from the Romanian banking system to financial risks.
The main aim of this study is to build the investor’s profile in the Romanian chemical industry and to highlight the factors that influenced the decision of investing in Romania rather than other Central Eastern European countries. The data collection was performed in June 2019 and the list of the 150 foreign companies from the chemical industry was obtained from The National Trade Register Office. Data used in this research were collected using a questionnaire. Dependent variable represents the probability of investing in Romania, with the option of the other Central and Eastern European countries as reference group. The main part of our analysis focus on this question: “Which were the reasons that made you decide invest in Romania?” For analysis, a number of six main classes are used: Infrastructure, labor force, Agglomeration factors, Knowledge, Market Size and Cost factors (as independent variables). Main results consist in the presence of three factors with a positive impact. The paper also highlights that the main advantage considered by a foreign investor in Romania is represented by the cheap labor force. As a secondary conclusion, companies are also interested in other factors that are mentioned in the paper.
The paper aims at presenting the particular way of implementing Odoo ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) within the Cloud environment, in order to manage the activities involved by a research project. To successfully achieve the objectives of the project - from choosing the research topic to writing the main body of study and disseminating critical information - the Odoo Project module allows the researchers to establish the stages involved in the implementation process, the description of related tasks, the appointment of persons responsible with the procedures of carrying out of the planned activities, the management of tasks in Kanban system, the drawing up of Gantt charts etc. The employment of Odoo ERP in scheduling research activities is highly accessible and easily opens the possibility to connect with other Odoo modules (such as accounting module or e-signature module), thereby saving significant amount of time and efforts related to the analysis of project status data. Moreover, the project progresses can be tracked by using simple devices with an Internet browser and a stable connection, which allow the access to the application via modern Cloud technologies.
The purpose of the paper is to present the changes occurred on global insurance markets during the current pandemic situation. The effects are largely felt through asset risks, weaker premium growth prospects, and also insurers’ long-term investment. Developed markets, particularly life ones, are likely to shrink in real terms as a result of the economic slowdown. Higher mortality rates due to the coronavirus pandemic are affecting the bottom lines of many life insurers. The main trends in this sector in last years, is based on the most important aspects such as, written premiums, and benefits paid, types of the life insurance contracts and density and penetration degree of the life insurance sector.
