Au cours des dernières décennies, l’étude des émotions a connu un essor important dans plusieurs domaines en sciences humaines et sociales notamment en sciences du langage. En effet, le concept d'émotion a su gagner ses titres de noblesse ces dernières années, après avoir longtemps été considéré comme un phénomène subjectif, irrationnel et donc sans intérêt scientifique. Dans le présent article, nous nous intéresserons à la question de l'émotion dans le discours de presse. Nous allons dans un premier temps identifier et décrire la construction émotionnelle des discours journalistiques du Monde après l'attentat contre Charlie Hebdo. Pour ce faire, nous proposons de distinguer, au sein des procédés visant à susciter l’émotion, l’émotion dite, l’émotion montrée, l’émotion argumentée. A partir de cette tripartition, nous interrogerons dans un second temps nos données en termes de degré d'émotivité afin de voir si un discours sans émotion est possible lors d'un événement de ce type.
