This article presents a methodology for the design of a more reliable printed microstrip Rotman lens based on the taper aperture that excites the lens and with the support of electromagnetic simulation software. Prototypes are developed on dielectric substrates (ɛr = 10.2) for phased array applications in frequencies of defense systems and radar (4–6 GHz) and of future 5G mobile systems (27–29 GHz). Return loss, isolation, and radiation pattern are simulated and measured showing the good performance of this methodology.
