El mayor problema ambiental que afecta hoy al planeta es el cambio climático. Este hecho hace que el médico, por su encargo social, deba conocer a profundidad la relación existente entre los problemas ambientales y su impacto en la salud humana, para realizar mejor sus variadas funciones, entre ellas, las educativas; así como para desempeñar su rol en el cumplimiento de Tarea Vida. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar el nivel de conocimientos sobre la dimensión ambiental en estudiantes de sexto año de la carrera de Medicina y residentes de Medicina General Integral. Se aplicó encuesta de conocimientos que exploró saberes sobre conceptos, factores y problemas relacionados con el medio ambiente y sus vínculos con afectaciones en la salud. El resultado general del cuestionario fue de 21.88 % de aprobados para los estudiantes y 27.59% para los residentes, los cuales concuerdan con un bajo porciento de aciertos en diferentes preguntas. Se concluye que en ambas muestras existen algunas lagunas cognoscitivas en la esfera ambiental.
