In the middle of the second republic, a popular sports movement developed, and its main milestone was the organization of the Popular Olympics in Barcelona, in 1936 (July 18-25), although it failed because of the coup d´état committed by the revolutionary forces on July 18, 1936. The arrival of a democratic and rights-based system through the polls had enabled a suitable socioeconomic framework for the development of cultural, sport and political institutions. The organization of the Sport and Folklore Popular Week, also called "OP" was carried out in Cataluña, where the role of the Catalonian Committee pro Esport Popular (CCEP) was to be highlighted, but it also had impact on other territories of the Second Spanish Republic. The reasons and the way in which the sports working-class movement started in Castilla and the implications of that very territory in the Popular Olympics in Barcelona (1936) have been researched based on the socio-critical paradigm and in the use of the analytical synthetic method. Results showed that this movement was created at the beginning of the 20 th century and enabled the movement of support to the OP in this geographical point. It had several support committees in the territory, and the Cultural Sports Working-class Federation (FCDO) played a decisive role for its development.
