Biotopic Distribution of Naked Amoebas (Protista) in Ukrainian Polissya Area. Patcyuk M. K., Dovgal I. V. -Forty-one species of naked amoebas were found in the different types of waterbodies of Zhytomyr and Volyn' parts of Ukrainian Polissya region. The major part of species of naked amoebas in this region demonstrated the prevalence to living in a certain type of water body that possible depends on the hydrochemical and trophic parameters of water. The limnetic and floodplain species complexes of amoebas are distinguished in Ukrainian Polissya.

Scant information is available regarding the prevalence and distribution of suctorian ciliates on halacarid mites. However, using this limited information and data from our laboratory on the systematics, biology, ecology and distribution of suctorian ciliates that are epibionts of halacarid mites, we redescribed four suctorian species: Limnoricus ceter (Jankowski), Praethecacineta halacari (Schulz), Thecacineta calix (Schroder) and Acineta sulcata Dons. We also recognized Lissacineta allgeni Jankowski and Thecacineta allgeni (Jankowski) as synonyms of Praethecacineta halacari (Schluz), and Thecacineta laophontis Jankowski and Paracineta moebiusi Kahl as synonyms of Thecacineta calix (Schroder). Many suctorians have been reported, but not properly identified in the halacarid literature. So, we have attempted to identify those suctorians to species level. Lastly, the interactions between the suctorians and their hosts are also discussed and Praethecacineta halacari is also reported for the first time from the Indian coast.

Epibiosis is a common phenomenon in marine systems. In marine environments, ciliates are among the most common organisms adopting an epibiotic habitus and nematodes have been frequently reported as their basibionts. In the present study, we report several new records of peritrich and suctorian ciliates-nematode association worldwide: from a deep-sea pockmark field in the NW Madagascar margin (Indian Ocean), from a shallow vent area in the Gulf of Naples (Mediterranean, Tyrrhenian Sea), in a MPA area in the Gulf of Trieste (Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea), from a mangrove system in French Guiana (South America, Atlantic Ocean), and from the Maldivian Archipelago. In addition, three new species of Suctorea from the Secca delle Fumose shallow vent area (Gulf of Naples) were described: Loricophrya susannae n. sp., Thecacineta fumosae n. sp. and Acinetopsis lynni n. sp. In the light of these new records and data from the existing literature, we discuss the suctorian–nematode epibiosis relationship as a lever to biodiversity.

В монографии обобщены оригинальные результаты исследований и литературные данные об инфузориях отряда Tintinnida, отмеченных в Чёрном и Азовском морях. Книга содержит общую характеристику отряда, информацию о морфологии 51 вида из 20 родов и 10 семейств, многолетней и сезонной динамике раковинных инфузорий в Севастопольской бухте Чёрного моря и особенностях распространения тинтиннид. В Севастопольской бухте были выделены группа круглогодичных видов, а также летне-осенний и осенне-весенний видовые комплексы. На основании данных по распределению температуры и солёности в Чёрном и Азовском морях выделены четыре видовых комплекса тинтиннид: 1) видовой комплекс побережья Кавказа, Крыма и северо-западной части Чёрного моря; 2) комплекс побережья румынии, болгарии и Азовского моря; 3) глубоководный видовой комплекс; 4) комплекс Синопской бухты. Английские резюме всех глав, в том числе диагнозы всех зарегистрированных в Чёрном и Азовском морях видов, включены в приложение. монография предназначена для гидробиологов, зоологов, фаунистов, таксономистов, а также для преподавателей и студентов высших учебных заведений. The results of author's investigations and literary data on ciliates of the order Tintinnida observed in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov are summarized in the monograph. Book contains the general characteristic of order, information on morphology of 51 species from 20 genera of 10 families, their longterm and seasonal dynamics in Sevastopol Bay of the Black Sea and peculiarities of tintinnid distribution. English summaries of all chapters, including diagnoses of all species recorded in the Black and Azov Seas are included in the Appendix. The monograph dedicated for hydrobiologists, zoologists, faunal researchers and taxonomists as for lecturers and students of higher education schools.

The present study reports on a range extension of the suctorian species Praethecacineta halacari to the region of He-Ping-Dao, north-east of Taiwan (West Pacific Ocean), Matemwe, the east coast of Unguja, Zanzibar, Tanzania (West Indian Ocean) and Nova Scotia, Canada (West Atlantic Ocean). Praethecacineta halacari is reported here for the first time from Taiwan, Tanzania and Canada. Earlier records include the Caspian Sea, Western Australia, Brazil, India, and various coastal sites in Europe.

Spatial Variation of the Land SnailBrephulopsis cylindrica (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Enidae): a Fractal Approach. Kramarenko, S. S., Dovgal, I. V. -Th e results of investigations of intrapopulation patterns in the land snail Brephulopsis cylindrica (Menke, 1828) variation are discussed in the article. Th e self-similar intrapopulational groups (demes) with sets of random (chaotic) and ranked (clinal) patterns of morphological characters were observed. It is argued that the self-similar elements lead to the formation of spatial variability patterns with distinct fractal nature. Показано, что наличие таких самоподобных элементов приводит к формированию паттернов пространственной изменчивости отчётливой фрактальной природы. Установлено, что с помощью сравнения степени близости или удалённости фрактальной размерности от величины 2,0, можно оценить относительную роль слу-чайной и закономерной компонент. A suctorian ciliate Loricophrya bosporica sp. nov. is described from the body surface of nematodes of genus Desmoscolex collected in oxic/anoxic boundary of the Bosporus outlet area of the Black Sea. The new species differs from relative species L. sivertseni by development of its body, which takes no more than half, or a third of the lorica length, absence of crown-like projections at the lorica edge as for adhesive disk. From L. tuba new species differs by considerably shorter stylotheca and prevalence to nematode host instead of echinoderms.
