As doenças cardiovasculares (DCV) representam a principal causa de morte no Brasil, responsáveis por aproximadamente 20% dos óbitos na população acima de 30 anos, destacando-se o infarto agudo do miocárdio (IAM) como importante causa isolada. O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a tendência temporal de mortalidade por IAM em idosos na região Sul do Brasil entre 2008 e 2018. Trata-se de um estudo ecológico, com dados do Sistema de Informação de Mortalidade do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Foram calculadas taxas de mortalidade através da razão entre o número de óbitos por IAM e a população conforme os estados, sexo, faixa etária por sexo. Para a análise estatística foi realizada regressão linear e avaliação da tendência de mortalidade por IAM. Observou-se uma tendência de estabilidade nas taxas de mortalidade por IAM em idosos na região Sul do Brasil, com tendência de redução no estado do Rio Grande do Sul (β -1,186; p=0,001). Não foram observadas alterações na tendência temporal de IAM quando analisados sexos (masculino e feminino) e na estratificação das faixas etárias por sexo, denotando um perfil de estabilidade. Considerando melhorias implementadas pelo SUS, a evolução terapêutica das DCV e o aumento da expectativa de vida da população, a redução de mortalidade exclusiva em um único estado da região serve de alerta para a ampliação de estudos epidemiológicos com foco regional na busca de fatores possivelmente associados. Ressalta-se a necessidade de análise e planejamento preventivo para o melhor acolhimento aos idosos acometidos por IAM.
A tuberculose (TB), uma das principais causas de morte em todo o mundo, é causada por bactérias do complexo Mycobacterium tuberculosis. A transmissão da TB é comumente facilitada no ambiente prisional, devido à má ventilação e superlotação, dentre outros fatores. A Nova Alta Paulista é composta por 30 municípios, dos quais nove apresentam unidades prisionais (UP), portanto, conhecer a epidemiologia da TB na Nova Alta Paulista e sua correlação com a presença de UP é importante para contribuir com a adoção de medidas públicas de saúde mais eficazes. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva e de séries temporais entre 2001 e 2020 para estudar a associação entre casos de TB e UP. O número de casos de TB por município foi extraído do departamento de informática do Sistema Único de Saúde do Brasil. A TB é mais prevalente em municípios que apresentam UP, e o coeficiente de determinação da média do número de casos de TB dos nove municípios com UP apresentou valor 62 vezes maior que o valor do coeficiente de determinação da média do número de casos de TB dos 21 municípios sem UP, mostrando que nesses municípios a chance de aquisição e transmissão de tuberculose é maior. Além disso, os funcionários das UP podem ser veículos de aquisição e transmissão da TB para a população em geral. Essas achados devem contribuir para a adoção de estratégias de saúde pública para a melhor compreensão da dinâmica dessa doença e adoção de medidas mais eficazes para o controle da TB.
