Se presenta la historiografía de la necrópolis megalítica de Antequera, estructurada en las fases que pueden distinguirse en aquella, contextualizándolas y exponiendo, en cada una de ellas, las propuestas presentadas por los investigadores que han estudiado la necrópolis y referentes a los aspectos más relevantes, es decir, función propuesta para las estructuras, su cronología, rasgos de las masas tumulares, etc..., finalizando con los resultados obtenidos en las más recientes excavaciones arqueológicas realizadas en las necrópolis.
En este estudio presentamos los trabajos realizados en la fuente de suministro lítico de la Loma del Viento, afloramiento silíceo que se encuentra localizado en el término municipal de Antequera y que se configura como un contexto más dentro del conocido yacimiento de Alcaide. En ella, durante la campaña de excavaciones de 1990, se realizó una recogida sistemática de items líticos de superficie para valorar la intensidad y naturaleza de las actuaciones antrópicas. Los primeros resultados nos han permitido reconstruir el proceso de formación del depósito lítico de superficie, la dinámica generadora del contexto arqueológico que ha llegado hasta nosotros, así como la naturaleza de la explotación lítica realizada en esta fuente de materia prima, aislando varias cadenas operativas que se solapan en el espacio y en el tiempo. Por último, los procesos tecnológicos descritos se han relacionado con los otros contextos de este yacimiento, concretamente la conocida necrópolis en cuevas artificiales y los restos de habitación recientemente detectados en la falda de la Loma del Viento.
