Bio Medical waste refers to any type of waste which is generated during the diagnosis, treatment or immunization of human beings or animals or in research purposes pertaining to or in the fabrication or testing of biologicals. Objective: To assess the awareness about bio-medical waste management among Doctors and Nurses of Children Hospital. Methods: Descriptive study was conducted in Children's Hospital and Institute of Child Health Lahore. Convenient Sampling Technique was applied to gather data. This was a hospital-based study in which staff members of both genders were included. The study population divided into two strata and these strata consisted of doctors and nurses. A total of 139 staff members were involved out of which there were 77 doctors, 62 nurses. Their responses checked by a Performa about problems in the management of biomedical waste. Results: The result showed that majority (62%) staff members had knowledge about bio-medical waste. The remaining staff had very basic knowledge about bio-medical waste. Conclusions: The awareness about BMW management among Children's Hospital Operation theater staff is satisfactory. But still, they need to improve their knowledge to ensure more patient safety by organizing seminars, workshops.
Objective: To find out the moderating effect of emotion reactivity and several demographic variables following symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder among individuals having undergone an amputation. Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted from March to July 2015 at the Government College University, Lahore, Pakistan, and comprised individuals, enrolled from difference orthopaedic and rehabilitation centres, aged 18-60 years having undergone amputation of upper or lower limb either because of diseases, like diabetes, gangrene, cancer, ulcer etc., or because of traumatic injuries, like road accident, electrical shock, etc.. Assessment of the study variables was done using the Emotion Reactivity Scale and the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-5. Data was analysed using SPSS 21. Results: Of the 160 subjects, 117(72%) were males and 43(28%) were females. The overall mean age was 38.45+/-13.17 years. Upper limb amputation cases were 17(10.6%), lower limb 138(86.2%) and both upper and lower limb amputation 5(3.2%). Amputation due to any disease was the case with 76(47.5%) subjects, while traumatic injury was the cause in 84(52.5%). There was a significant positive association of emotional reactivity with symptoms severity of post-traumatic stress disorder (p<0.05). Conclusion: Post-amputation effects were found to have a significant impact on individual emotions, and traumatic flashbacks had a leading role in the development of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms severity. Aim: To investigate the relationship between narcissism and body image with Instagram usage. Methodology: This cross-sectional research study was conducted in three Universities of Lahore; The university of Lahore, University of Management and Technology, and University of Central Punjab. 200 university students were taken including 100 females and 100 males. age, gender. Narcissistic Personality Inventory-16, Body appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2), Motive for Instagram use were employed, their age, education, birth order, economic status and student’s qualification were used. Results: The results showed that there was a positive significant relationship between narcissism and body image. More results also revealed a positive relationship regarding narcissism and the usage of Instagram. Conclusion: Narcissism and body image are correlated that means the individuals who have narcissist features, they mentor themselves and have self-image, self-concept, self-perception and outer appearance in their mind and they spend more time on Instagram and are more concerned about their physical appearance.
