The authors of the article investigated the sharing economy elements as an ecosystem and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the sharing economy in the tourism sector. Exploring the elements of the sharing economy's ecosystem can help identify the challenges of globalization and lead to exploiting the sharing economy's potential more efficiently in the tourism sector. The study of the impact of the sharing economy as an ecosystem on the tourism sector is also made relevant by the lack of research examining the advantages and disadvantages of sharing economy models. To determine the impact of the sharing economy on the tourism sector, the authors analyzed the scientific literature. An empirical study of business models based on the sharing economy in the tourism sector was carried out. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages were identified of the sharing economy in the tourism sector. The authors' analysis has shown that, despite conflicting views on the impact and importance of the sharing economy in the tourism sector, many experts are optimistic about sharing economy-based models in this sector. Research by the authors of the article shows that sharing economy-based businesses are superior to traditional business models. The sharing economy-based models are preeminent because of more affordable prices for tourists, better satisfaction of individual needs, opportunities to become part of the community, a more comprehensive range of services, better access to tourism services. A better quality of services also highlights the advantages of economy-based businesses. Although the study was conducted in the Lithuanian tourism sector, we can assume that the study data can be unified and applied to analyze similar markets in other countries.
The rapid growth of cooperation among countries, globalization, and integration has been some of the most significant indicators for the growing importance of free economic zones [FEZs] in the system of world economic relations. However, despite the advantages provided by FEZs, not all countries can successfully exploit the potential of FEZs. It is noticed that state institutions are hesitant to establish special purpose economic zones due to the difficulty of measuring the benefits of FEZs. This article aims to explain the phenomenon of the FEZ impact on regional economic development. In this article, based on the correlation analysis an algorithm is developed according to the interfaces illustrating the highest determination coefficient. The algorithm provides an opportunity to reveal the dependence on regional economic development from FEZs activity. The study reveals that the most critical FEZs activities that significantly impact regional economic development are the amount of attracted foreign direct investments [FDI], the number of companies operating in FEZ and jobs created in the zone.
The sharing economy is rapidly gaining popularity, especially in the tourism sector. The sharing economy transforms functioning business models, giving businesses new economic activities and development opportunities. However, while sharing economy-based models are spreading in the world, not only the advantages but also the disadvantages are seen. This paper summarizes the arguments within the scientific discussion on the economic characteristics of sharing economy. It identifies the actions determining the development of sharing economy in the tourism sector. Since it is known that the sharing economy is developing rapidly, the development of the sharing economy is usually analyzed as a whole, regardless of the different sectors. However, the development of the sharing economy in the tourism sector is found to be the fastest. Besides, there is the largest number of stakeholders. Systematization of scientific treatises and approaches concerning the investigated issue indicated that the main drivers for the sharing economy development in the tourism sector are the Internet and technology among tourists, the cyclical nature of the economy, the change of societal values, and environmental friendliness. The methodological base of this research was secondary data analysis. The research empirically confirmed and theoretically proved that the sharing economy in the tourism sector develops rapidly, attracts more and more consumers in the tourism sector, and outpaces traditional business models. The obtained results could be used for analyzing the most favorable conditions to develop new business models in the market, analyze the response of market participants (consumers and traditional business model), promote new business initiatives in the tourism sector, research the sharing economy phenomenon in narrower tourism (transport, entertainment, and tourist information platforms).
The problem of the geopolitical stability of the country has always been the basis of sustainable economic development. CIS countries and their closest neighbours are the international centres where important transport and communication routes from Asia to Europe intersect. They have a wide range of various raw material reserves, which focuses the world community's attention and builds a separate vector of economic relations. The transformation processes that have taken place in recent years in countries have been due to scientific and technological progress, the intensity of global innovation, and globalization trends, which encourage the country to move to a new level of development. This article summarizes the arguments and counterarguments within the scientific discussion on the place and prospects of CIS countries' international economic position in the formation of the basis for innovative development. The main purpose of the study is to confirm the hypothesis about the functional links between foreign trade and investment activities of countries and the level of innovative development of the country according to the level of economical development. The study's methodological tools were the methods of correlation-regression analysis and simultaneous structural equations, which allow formalizing both explicit and latent relationships between the studied objects. The study period was chosen from 2011 to 2018 because of statistical data availability. In this regard, the array of input data is presented in the form of regressors which identify the level of innovation development countries and three dependent variables (regressands) which indicate the dynamics of foreign trade turnover, doing business and total internal economic conditions. Besides, the variables from each defined block participate as both dependent and independent variables during the construction of the structural model. The results of the study could be useful for The Innovation Agencies, which are established under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of these countries that assist local business entities in acquiring modern technologies and technological solutions
The sharing economy expands and becomes a significant part of tourism, contributing to economic development. The Lithuanian tourism sector is changing from an internal perspective and is influenced by various external macro-environment factors. Currently, as the tourism sector recovers, not only on a national but also international scale, to achieve rapid development of the tourism sector, and assess the importance of one of the biggest catalysts of the tourism sector - the sharing economy, the research aim is to determine the macroeconomic factors that have the influence on the sharing economy in the tourism sector, Lithuania. This research will help policymakers and other stakeholders to create conditions for the sharing economy in the tourism sector for future development and growth in Lithuania. The paper is carried out in the following logical order. First, the literature analysis identifies the macro-environment vectors that significantly impact the development of the sharing economy. The further analysis identifies specific parameters that, according to various literature reviews, influence sharing economy's development in the tourism sector. Further research is aimed at verifying coefficients of influential macroeconomic factors and impact directions by experts. The authors found a positive, most substantial medium-term relationship: between 21-49 years old population growth; increase in monthly income; higher education level of population; the number of households with children; consumer confidence index. The results suggest that the growth of these and other analyzed parameters would have the most influence while encouraging sharing economy's development in the tourism sector. The authors also analyzed other political, economic, sociocultural, technological, environmental, and legal parameters.
