Background : All types of graft materials undergo dimensional changes, and these can influence both the bone volume obtained after the procedure and the stability of implants installed in the posterior maxillary grafted region.Aim/Hypothesis : The objective of this study was to evaluate the dimensional stability of the Osteogen® biomaterial (Impladent, Ltd, Holliswood, NY), associated or not with Platelet and Leukocyte Rich Fibrin (L-PRF) in sinus lift, observing the repair period of 6 months.Material and Methods : As a methodology, a prospective, randomized clinical study was conducted in a split-mouth design. The tomographic exams were performed in the preoperative (T0), 10 days postoperative (T1) and 180 days postoperative (T2) days, in 20 individuals with bone reconstruction needs in the bilateral maxillary sinus, for posterior rehabilitation with implants. The height and volume of the grafts were evaluated in T1 and T2, as well as the calculation of the volumetric changes and height between the two study periods.Results : The reduction in height between T1 and T2 was statistically significant only in the test group and the volume contraction of the grafts did not present a statistically significant difference in the comparisons between groups or between men and women.
Conclusion and ClinicalImplications : Both grafts were effective for bone reconstruction in the maxillary sinus and after 6 months of healing, the addition of L-PRF to hydroxyapatite did not interfere in the percentage of graft volumetric contraction.
