This study aims to determine the effect of practicum-based direct learning model on science process skills and students' critical thinking skills. This study is a quasi-experimental research with the Pretest-posttest Control Group Design. The sampling technique using Cluster Random Sampling. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA 1 (18 students) as the experimental class and class XI IPA 2 (18 students) as the control class in AL-Hamzar High School Tembeng Putik. The research instruments used were learning implementation observation sheets, the science process skills observation sheets, and learning achievements tests. The data obtained were analyzed using the t test with the help of SPSS 16. The results of data analysis showed that the implementation of learning in the first meeting reached 81% and the second meeting 96% with a very good category. The students’ science process skills in both classes show that students' science process skills varies. The students’ critical thinking ability in the experimental class was higher than the control class. The results of pretest data analysis showed that students' critical thinking ability in the experimental class was 35.5 while the control class was 49.5. Students' critical thinking ability in post-test increased in the experimental class to 73.5 while the control class was 58.6. The results of the t-test show that tcount > ttable (3.45 > 2.04) so it can be concluded that the practicum-based direct learning model was affect toward students' science process skills and critical thinking ability.
Seiring dengan meningkatnya jumlah penduduk di suatu wilayah, akan mengakibatkan bertambahnya volume sampah. Pola konsumsi masyarakat ikut memberi kontribusi dalam peningkatan volume sampah yang semakin beragam. Sejauh ini penggelolaan sampah yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat di lingkungan RT 04 Pejeruk Bangket masih terbatas pada sistem pengumpulan sampah, pengangkutan sampah, dan pembuangan ke TPSA, sedangkan daya tampung TPSA semakin terbatas. Solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan memberdayakan masyarakat dalam pengolahan sampah skala rumah tangga dengan metode komposting. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu rumah tangga dan pemuda di lingkungan RT 04 Pejeruk Bangket tentang pengeloaan sampah menggunakan metode komposting. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilaksanakan mulai bulan Desember 2019 Februari 2020. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian secara keseluruhan terlaksana dengan baik. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah peserta pelatihan sebesar 85.07%, pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam menguasai materi sebesar 73.13%, dan respon peserta pelatihan 91.88%. Faktor pendukung kegiatan pengolahan sampah skala rumah tangga adanya dukungan dari Kepala Lingkungan, Ketua RT 04 dan antusiasme peserta pengabdian, sedangkan faktor penghambat kegiatan adalah sinergi antara masyarakat dengan pemerintah lokal belum optimal
Background Preeclampsia is the major problem and the main leading cause of fetal and maternal mortality worldwide. The early prediction of preeclampsia in pregnant women is required to prevent the occurrence of preeclampsia. The mean arterial pressure (MAP) and roll-over test (ROT) are the combination of measurement which can be used to predict preeclampsia. On the contrary, Ajwa dates were reported to have an enormous activity which contributes to its role in improving health conditions. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of daily consumption of seven Ajwa dates on prevention of preeclampsia, through MAP and ROT changes. Methods Forty pregnant women (n = 40) were randomly assigned into the control group (n = 10) and the intervention group which received a daily intake of Ajwa dates (n = 30). The MAP and ROT were assessed before and after the 8-week intervention period. Results The intervention group showed the significant reduction in MAP and ROT following the 8-week intervention period (p < 0.05). Conclusion Daily consumption of seven Ajwa dates has a remarkable potential to decrease the MAP and ROT in pregnant women at risk of developing preeclampsia, and thus, it can contribute to prevent the development of preeclampsia.
Introduction: The nutritional status of pregnant women has a significant impact on the fetus's health and development. Low birth weight can be caused by womb growth problems. Research in Nepal shows that babies with low birth weight have a higher risk of becoming stunted. West Sulawesi is the most populous province in Central Indonesia, with a population of 39.7%. In Mamuju District, West Sulawesi, the relationship between stunted babies and maternal nutritional status during pregnancy was investigated. Methods: Cross sectional analytic survey with a retrospective approach. Data processing using the chi square test. The population in this study was 20.039 people. Total sampling was used to collect nutritional status data of children under the age of five in West Sulawesi province from February to June 2020. In this study, 88 people were sampled, all of whom were mothers of stunted children aged 2 to 5 Years old and who had a KIA book during pregnancy. Results: The results of statistical tests showed that the p value of nutritional status with BMI and LILA 0.000 and the p value of HB levels 0.066. There was a link between pregnant women's nutritional status and LILA, but not between HB levels and stunting. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women based on BMI and LILA and the incidence of stunting in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province.
Latar Belakang: Penelitian yang dilakukan di Amerika Serikat menyatakan bahwa kandungan tanin dan polifenol dalam teh dapat menghambat penyerapan zat besi dalam saluran cerna yang merupakan pemicu terjadinya anemia atau penyakit kurang darah. Karena zat tanin yang terdapat pada teh dapat mengikat zat besi pada makanan yang dicerna, sehingga membuat penyerapan zat besi atau Fe yang dilakukan oleh sel darah merah berkurang. Metode Penelitian: Desain penelitian ini adalah survei yang bersifat analitik yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh mengkonsumsi teh setelah makan terhadap kejadian anemia pada remaja putri di Sekolah Putri Darul Istiqamah Kabupaten Maros. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah cross sectional. Analisis Bivariat yang digunakan yaitu dengan sistem komputerisasi melalui uji Chi-Square. Hasil Penelitian: Di Sekolah Putri Darul Istiqomah Kabupaten Maros remaja putri yang memiliki kebiasaan minum teh setelah makan secara rutin sebanyak 16 orang. Tidak ada responden yang memiliki riwayat anemia berat dari ke 16 responden sedangkan yang memiliki riwayat anemia sedang adalah 50%, anemia ringan adalah 31,2%, dan tidak anemia adalah 18,7%. Kesimpulan: Terdapat pengaruh antara kebiasaan minum teh setelah makan terhadap kejadian anemia pada remaja putri di Sekolah Putri Darul Istiqamah Kabupaten Maros.
[Title: Development of Student Worksheets based on Practicum with Direct Learning Models to Improve Students' Science Process Skills]. This research aims to develop student worksheets based on practicum with direct learning models that valid, practical and effective to improve students' science process skills. This research is a development study using 4D stages with the subject of 30 students of class X1 IPA1 MAPK Syeh Zainuddin Anjani. The developed student worksheet was validated by three competent validators using validation sheets. The practicalities of the worksheets developed were measured using student response questionnaires, while the effectiveness of worksheets was measured using an observation sheet of students' science process skills by two observers. Research data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that the student worksheets with tissue culture material were quite valid (a score of 3.9), the students' responses after learning showed a high percentage with a very strong category (81%-100%), while the students' process skills improved at each meeting in the good category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the student worksheets based on practicum with direct learning models were valid, practical, and effective to improve the students science process skills of MAPK Syeh Zainuddin Anjani.
The purpose of this study was to develop online methodology for high school biology practicum instructions and their effectiveness on students' science process skills. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPA SMA Al-Hamzar Tembeng Putik, Wanasaba District, East Lombok Regency. The type of research used is development research that produces products in the form of high school biology practicum instructions with online methods. The development procedure carried out in this study is in accordance with the steps based on the Borg & Gall model, with the following stages: 1) research and data collection; 2) planning; 3) development of the initial product draft; 4) initial field trials; 5) revised trial results; 6) field test of the main product; 7) product revision; 8) wide-scale field trials / feasibility tests; 9) final product revision; and 10) dissemination and implementation. This research is only up to the 7th stage. The research instrument used was the observation sheet and the validation sheet. The results showed that the high school biology practicum guide developed using the online method, based on the results of the validation that has been done, the score is 2.96 which is included in the valid category. As for the students' science process skills, the score was 70.5 in the skilled category, 81.5 in the highly skilled category, and 92 in the very skilled category.
