This investigation was conducted during the two successive seasons i.e. 2019 and 2020 on Zaghloul date palm grown at the experimental orchard, Faculty of Agriculture, South Valley University, Qena, Egypt. This work conducted to study the effect of different sources of potassium fertilizers on fruiting of Zaghloul date palm under Qena condition. Potassium fertilization via nano-technology, vinasse and potassin were used. The experiment was arranged in a complete randomized design with three replications. It is evident from the obtained results that using nano-potassium, either soil dressing or foliar spray, as well as foliar spray of vinasse or potassin significantly increased the fruit retention, bunch weight and yield/palm compared to fertilize by potassium sulphate (check treatment). Also, these treatments significantly improved dates quality in terms of increasing fruit weight, flesh percentage, TSS, sugar percentages and anthocyanin contents moreover, decreasing total acidity and total tannins compared to fertilize with the recommended potassium doses via potassium sulphate. From the results, it could be concluded that fertilized Zaghloul date palm with potassium fertilization via foliar spray of either nano-potassium, vinasse or potassium to improve the fertilization efficiency and get high yield with best dates quality. In addition, hasten advance the fruit ripening and overcome potassium fertilization problems.
This study was conducted during two successive seasons of 2018 and 2019 on Balady Mandarin trees, 20 years old budded on sour orange rootstock and planted at 5×5m apart. Grown at the productive farm located at Shandawel Island, Sohag governorate. This experiment aimed to study the effect of active dry yeast, ascorbic acid, vitamin B complex and their combination on yield components, alternate bearing and fruit quality of Balady Mandarin cultivar grown under Sohage conditions. The obtained results showed that using of active dry yeast at 10g/l (as soil application) as single application or in combination with ascorbic acid and vitamin B complex at 1g/l from each (foliar application) caused a pronounced increasing of fruit numbers, fruit weight (g) and yield (kg). The later also improved fruit quality in terms of TSS%, TSS/acid ratio as well as total sugars, vitamin C content and reducing total acidity of Balady Mandarin fruits. According to results of the current study it could be concluded that using active dry yeast at 10g/l (as soil application) as single treatment or in combination with spraying ascorbic acid (1g/l) plus vitamin B complex (1g/l) three times on the first week of May, July and September led to improve both yield and fruit quality of Balady Mandarin Cultivar under Sohage environmental conditions.
The effect of ethanol extracted propolis (EEP) on storage of Red Roomy grapes under low temperature was investigated during 2008 and 2009 seasons. Dipping the clusters for 30 mints in EEP at 0 to 5% then dried with air and stored in especial plates at 1-2°C and 90+5% relative humidity resulted in the following main results:All ethanol extracted propolis at 1 to 5% significantly reduced the percentages of the undesirable berries and berry weight loss compared to untreated one (control) during the two experimental seasons.-Treatments with either 4 or 5% EEP gained the best results, where it caused a significant decreases in undesirable berries percentage by (65.54 & 66.88%) and (63.07 & 63.73%) and berry weight loss percentage (60.08 & 63.68%) and (46.36 & 47.63%) compared to control in both seasons, respectively.-All treatments with EEP failed to show any significant effects on berry chemical properties compared to control.It could be concluded that treatment with 4% ethanol extracted propolis seemed to be the proper and ideal treatment to prolong cold storage of Red Roomy grapes without great reduction on berry quality because it achieved the lowest figures in fresh weight losses, decay % and total acidity. In addition improved the reducing sugars.
The current investigation was executed at in a private the Orchard, located at El-Badary district, Assiut Governorate, Egypt, to study the effect of organic and bio-form fertilizers on vegetative growth, nutrient status and fruiting of Manfalouty pomegranate trees during 2019 and 2020 seasons. The experiment was arranged in a complete randomized block design with five replications and it consisted of five treatments.The results can be summarized as follow:Using the recommended dose of nitrogen (RND) via thrice form (mineral plus organic and bio-form) significantly increased the shoot length compared to use RND via mineral-N fertilizer (check treatment). All fertilization treatments significantly increased leaf area, chlorophyll and contents of N, P and K in leaves compared to check treatment. The fertilization treatments significantly increased the yield/tree and significantly decreased the fruit splitting and sunburn percentage compared to use mineral-N source only. Fertilization with any twice form (organic plus mineral)or thrice form (organic + bio + mineral) significantly improved the fruit properties by increasing the fruit weight, arils percentage and total soluble solids as well as sugar, anthocyanin and vitamin C contents and decreasing the total acidity compared to using the check treatment.It is clear from the current results the importance of fertilization through organic and bio-form for pomegranates productivity, via improve the fruit quality which reflects on induce the increase packable yield. In addition, such fertilization treatments reduce the cost of production and environmental pollution.
